Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers? Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation. What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten; what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten; what the young locusts have left other locusts \f 1:4 The precise meaning of the four Hebrew words used here for locusts is uncertain.\F have eaten. Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! It has stripped off their bark and thrown it away, leaving their branches white. Mourn like a virgin \f 1:8 Or ((young woman))\F in sackcloth grieving for the husband \f 1:8 Or ((betrothed))\F of her youth. Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the LORD. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD. 1:10 田荒涼,地悲哀;因為五穀毀壞,新酒乾竭,油也缺乏。 The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; \f 1:10 Or ((ground mourns))\F the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil fails. Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed. The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree-- all the trees of the field--are dried up. Surely the joy of mankind is withered away. Put on sackcloth, O priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God. 1:14 你們要分定禁食的日子,宣告嚴肅會,招聚長老和國中的一切居民到耶和華─你們 神的殿,向耶和華哀求。 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly.

May 23 "At their wit's end, they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out."(Psalm 107:27, 28.) Are you standing at "Wit's End Corner," Christian, with troubled brow? Are you thinking of what is before you, And all you are bearing now? Does all the world seem against you, And you in the battle alone? Remember─at "Wit's End Corner" Is just where God's power is shown. Are you standing at "Wit's End Corner," Blinded with wearying pain, Feeling you cannot endure it, You cannot bear the strain, Bruised through the constant suffering, Dizzy, and dazed, and numb? Remember─at "Wit's End Corner" Is where Jesus loves to come. Are you standing at "Wit's End Corner"? Your work before you spread, All lying begun, unfinished, And pressing on heart and head, Longing for strength to do it, Stretching out trembling hands? Remember─at "Wit's End Corner" The Buraen-beerer stands. Are you standing at "Wit's End Corner"? Then you're just in the very spot To learn the wondrous resources Of Him who faileth not: No doubt to a brighter pathway Your footsteps will soon be moved, But only at "Wit's End Corner" Is the "God who is able" proved. ─Antoinette Wilson. Do not get discouraged; it may be the last key in the bunch that opens the door. ─Stansifer.
