^1:1 耶和華的話臨到毗土珥的兒子約珥。 The word of the LORD that came to Joel son of Pethuel.
^1:2 老年人哪，當聽我的話；國中的居民哪，都要側耳而聽。在你們的日子，或你們列祖的日子，曾有這樣的事嗎？ Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers?
^1:3 你們要將這事傳與子，子傳與孫，孫傳與後代。 Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.
^1:4 剪蟲剩下的，蝗蟲來吃；蝗蟲剩下的，蝻子來吃；蝻子剩下的，螞蚱來吃。 What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten; what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten; what the young locusts have left other locusts \f 1:4 The precise meaning of the four Hebrew words used here for locusts is uncertain.\F have eaten.
^1:5 酒醉的人哪，要清醒哭泣；好酒的人哪，都要為甜酒哀號，因為從你們的口中斷絕了。 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips.
^1:6 有一隊蝗蟲〔原文是民〕又強盛又無數，侵犯我的地；牠的牙齒如獅子的牙齒，大牙如母獅的大牙。 A nation has invaded my land, powerful and without number; it has the teeth of a lion, the fangs of a lioness.
^1:7 牠毀壞我的葡萄樹，剝了我無花果樹的皮，剝盡而丟棄，使枝條露白。 It has laid waste my vines and ruined my fig trees. It has stripped off their bark and thrown it away, leaving their branches white.
^1:8 我的民哪，你當哀號，像處女腰束麻布，為幼年的丈夫哀號。 Mourn like a virgin \f 1:8 Or ((young woman))\F in sackcloth grieving for the husband \f 1:8 Or ((betrothed))\F of her youth.
^1:9 素祭和奠祭從耶和華的殿中斷絕；事奉耶和華的祭司都悲哀。 Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the LORD. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD.
^1:10 田荒涼，地悲哀；因為五穀毀壞，新酒乾竭，油也缺乏。 The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; \f 1:10 Or ((ground mourns))\F the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the oil fails.
^1:11 農夫啊，你們要慚愧；修理葡萄園的啊，你們要哀號；因為大麥小麥與田間的莊稼都滅絕了。 Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed.
^1:12 葡萄樹枯乾；無花果樹衰殘。石榴樹、棕樹、蘋果樹，連田野一切的樹木也都枯乾；眾人的喜樂盡都消滅。 The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree-- all the trees of the field--are dried up. Surely the joy of mankind is withered away.
^1:13 祭司啊，你們當腰束麻布痛哭；伺候祭壇的啊，你們要哀號；事奉我　神的啊，你們要來披上麻布過夜，因為素祭和奠祭從你們　神的殿中斷絕了。 Put on sackcloth, O priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.
^1:14 你們要分定禁食的日子，宣告嚴肅會，招聚長老和國中的一切居民到耶和華─你們　神的殿，向耶和華哀求。 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
^1:15 哀哉！耶和華的日子臨近了。這日來到，好像毀滅從全能者來到。 Alas for that day! For the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty. \f 1:15 Hebrew ((Shaddai))\F
^1:16 糧食不是在我們眼前斷絕了嗎？歡喜快樂不是從我們　神的殿中止息了嗎？ Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes-- joy and gladness from the house of our God?
^1:17 穀種在土塊下朽爛；倉也荒涼，廩也破壞；因為五穀枯乾了。 The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. \f 1:17 The meaning of the Hebrew for this word is uncertain.\F The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up.
^1:18 牲畜哀鳴；牛群混亂，因為無草；羊群也受了困苦。 How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
^1:19 耶和華啊，我向你求告，因為火燒滅曠野的草場；火焰燒盡田野的樹木。 To you, O LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the open pastures and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
^1:20 田野的走獸向你發喘；因為溪水乾涸，火也燒滅曠野的草場。 Even the wild animals pant for you; the streams of water have dried up and fire has devoured the open pastures.

■ 中文荒漠甘泉（10月19日）

十月十九日「耶和華的約櫃在前頭行。」民數記十章33節許多時候，我們裡面起了一個聲音，自己不知道這聲音究竟是出乎神的呢，還是出乎自己的。在這種情形之下，我們還是不動的好。如果這是出乎神的，神必給我們充足的證據來證實這是出乎祂的，叫我們絲毫沒有疑惑的可能。耶利米的故事多美麗：耶利米對於購買亞拿突那塊地的事，已經知道是出乎耶和華的，但是他不去作，直到他叔叔的兒子果然到他那裡去求他買回─給了他證據。於是耶利米說：「我……就知道這是耶和華的話。」（耶卅二8）他等著，直到神叫他明白─—叫別人和自己都相信─以後，他纔照著事實去作。神喜歡我們照著祂的心意行事。所以我們不可輕舉妄動，以致違反了祂的心意。　　　　　　　　　　─宣信神的手指所點的道路，神手必去預備。信徒啊！你不要說你要作甚麼、你不要作甚麼；你只要求神叫你看見祂所為你選擇的是那一條路。如果道路還未顯明，這就是說：現在還沒有行動的需要；你站在你現在所站的地位上，神是負全責的。　　　　　　　　　　─選神會引領祂的子民，過不認識的路徑。

■ 英文荒漠甘泉（10月19日）

October 19 "The ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them." (Num. 10:33) 　ＧOD does give us impressions, but not that we should act on them as impressions. If the impression be from God, He will Himself give sufficient evidence to establish it beyond the possibility of a doubt. 　How beautiful is the story of Jeremiah, of the impression that came to him respecting the purchase of the field of Anathoth. But Jeremiah did not act upon this impression until after the following day, when his uncle's son came to him and brought him external evidence by making a proposal for the purchase. Then Jeremiah said: "I knew this was the word of the Lord." 　He waited until God seconded the impression by a providence, and then he acted in full view of the open facts, which could bring conviction unto others as well as to himself. God wants us to act according to His mind. We are not to ignore the Shepherd's personal voice but, like Paul and his companions at Troas, we are to listen to all the voices that speak and "gather" from all the circumstances, as they did, the full mind of the Lord. 　　　　　　　　　　─Dr. Simpson. 　"Where God's finger points, there God's hand will make the way." 　Do not say in thine heart what thou wilt or wilt not do, but wait upon God until He makes known His way. So long as that way is hidden it is clear that there is no need of action, and that He accounts Himself responsible for all the results of keeping thee where thou art. 　　　　　　　　　　－Selected. ■ 永活之泉（10月19日）

十月十九日　積財在天上「人生在世毫無目的，但禱告能使人從浪費時間進深到永遠的財富；雖然生命的貧窮和不幸，但我們可以藉此支取屬天極大、美好而喜樂的財寶。」神對於有智慧的受造之物是以良善相待，神與人也無任何隔閡；但我們現今的靈魂所以是屬世的，無法與天上相配，只因我們沒有禱告的靈。這是唯一能使我們轉向好的方面，而且打開屬天之門的利器。當種子撒在最好的土裏，以最好的方式栽培，也不能保證一定有完美無缺的成長；同樣，神最初為人類所預備無窮而向善的靈，太陽不能直接強射人身，而長期與神交通分享，形成良善的來源。「我們由神所生的兒女，應該與祂有比其他受造物有更深的關係，我們依靠祂而存留。我們的始祖因聖父、聖子、聖靈三一神的靈吹入成為有靈的活人，他是照神的形像被造成的，但不是外在的形狀和樣子，而是有內在有神本質的形像，因三一真神即居住在天上，自然所造的人也是屬天，即使在世也過著如天的生活。」這課給我們有關太陽最深的道理。陽光因無法直射而不能傷害我們所在的地球，這是神因愛我們而保守我們；自然，我們這些屬祂的兒女，並且在我們裏面運行，但我們若遠離祂、順服世界，就不能有此恩典。哦！我們每天可從太陽學習，神將祂的愛隨陽光賜下，使我們歡喜的接受。

■ 中文屬天日子（10月19日）

十月十九日　不介意的秘訣「我的國不屬這世界。」約翰福音18節36節主耶穌基督今日的大敵人，是實際工作的概念，這種概念，不是從新約來的，是從世界的制度來的。人們在這裡面花掉了無數的精力和活動，卻沒有與神發生私自的關係，豈不大錯。耶穌說：「神的國來到，不是眼所能見的；……看哪，因為神的國就在你們心裡，」這是一種隱秘而不顯明的事。一個基督的工人在店舖的窗櫥裡的時候是太長了。只有最深處的最深處才能表顯生命的能力。我們要去掉我們現代宗教生活的傳染病。在我們主的生活裡，沒有我們所推崇的忙來忙去的活動，門徒是應該像祂夫子一樣的。耶穌基督的國的中心事務，是與基督發生私人的關係，不是公然有益於人。聖經學院的力量，不是它的實際活動，它的整個力量，是在於你被浸在神面前。你不知道神在甚麼地方製造你的環境，你也不知道在本國或在別國將有甚麼緊張臨到你。如果你太耗費你的精力，不去浸在神救贖基要的真理中，當緊張來到時候，你就要跌倒了。但是如果浸在神面前的時間，把你的根札在神裡面，在靈性的路線上，無論甚麼事發生，你會保持對於祂的真誠。

■ 中文上海嗎哪（10月19日）

十月十九日「……除去不敬虔的心。」提多書二章12節讓我們拒絕肉體的情慾、世俗的情慾和愛自己的心，並學習捨棄自己，因為生命中的順服，乃是以捨棄自我開始。我們必須不顧肉體的需要，不接納低層的生活形態，向世俗的情慾和自私說：「不！」因為生命中的信心，乃是由單純地否絕自我而形成的。當我們向神說：「是！」就等於對自己下了一個永恆的結論，對自我、肉體及那惡者說：「不！」十誡中的命令幾乎每一條都有「不可」這兩個字，哥林多前書十三章中愛的真諦，也是用否定來描述愛的特徵。比如「愛是不做……，不求……，不輕易……」等等。總之，我們會發現，在一個聖潔的生活中，最重要的一部份是說：「不」。我不屬於我自己，我乃屬主。我只屬於祂而已，我乃屬主。
