How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, 1:25 反輕棄我一切的勸戒,不肯受我的責備。 since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, 1:26 你們遭災難,我就發笑;驚恐臨到你們,我必嗤笑。 I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you-- 1:27 驚恐臨到你們,好像狂風;災難來到,如同暴風;急難痛苦臨到你們身上。 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. <<Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. 1:29 因為,你們恨惡知識,不喜愛敬畏耶和華, Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, 1:30 不聽我的勸戒,藐視我一切的責備, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, 1:31 所以必吃自結的果子,充滿自設的計謀。 they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; 1:33 惟有聽從我的,必安然居住,得享安靜,不怕災禍。 but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.>> 本模組中文化由長島基督福音教會的Jack起始。

September 9 "Not much earth." (Matt. 13:5.) SHALLOW! It would seem from the teaching of this parable that we have something to do with the soil. The fruitful seed fell into "good and honest hearts." I suppose the shallow people are the soil without much earth─those who have no real purpose, are moved by a tender appeal, a good sermon, a pathetic melody, and at first it looks as if they would amount to something; but not much earth─no depth, no deep, honest purpose, no earnest desire to know duty in order to do it. Let us look after the soil of our hearts. When a Roman solider was told by his guide that if he insisted on taking a certain journey it would probably be fatal, he answered, "It is necessary for me to go; it is not necessary for me to live." This was depth. When we are convicted something like that we shall come to something. The shallow nature lives in its impulses, its impressions, its intuitions, its instincts, and very largely its surroundings. The profound character looks beyond all these, and moves steadily on sailing past all storms and clouds into the clear sunshine which is always on the other side, and waiting for the afterwards which always brings the reversion of sorrow, seeming defeat and failure. When God has deepened us, then He can give us His deeper truths, His profoundest secrets, and His mightier trusts. Lord, lead me into the depths of Thy life and save me from a shallow experience! On to broader fields of holy vision; On to loftier heights of faith and love; Onward, upward, apprehending wholly, All for which He calls thee from above. ─A. B. Simpson.
