四月十日 「要指示我,你為何與我爭辯。」約伯記十章2節 哦受試煉的人們!神正在訓練你們諸般的德行。有許多德行,必須在試煉中,纔會彰顯。你的信心在夏天不會像在冬天那麼大而明顯。愛心好像螢火蟲一般,非在黑暗的環境中,發不出明亮的光來。盼望好像星一般—─在順利的日光下,是看不見甚麼的,惟在不幸的黑夜纔會照出美麗的光彩來。所有的苦難都是寶石匣內所襯的黑絨,為要叫寶石─—我們的德行─顯得更美麗的。 你不是剛跪著禱告說:「主啊,我怕我沒有信心;讓我知道我有沒有信心」嗎?你這樣禱告,豈不是不知不覺地在求試煉嗎?─—因為你的信心不受試煉,你怎麼能知道你有沒有信心呢?神給我們試煉,常是為著要彰顯我們的德行,讓我們可以知道我們到底有沒有這些德行。並且,試煉不只叫我們的德行彰顯,也叫我們的德行長進。 神訓練祂的士兵,不能在安適奢華的宮中訓練他們,必須在野地的營中訓練他們,祂必須打發他們出去實習—─兼程進兵,勞力服役。有時叫他們攀山,有時叫他們涉水,有時叫他們游泳,有時叫他們背著重負行軍。基督人啊,這是神的方法,難道你還抱怨麼? ─司布真 不被撒但打擾,並不是得福的證據。

April 10 "Show me wherefore thou contendest with me."(Job 10:2.) PERHAPS, O tried soul, the Lord is doing this to develop thy graces. There are some of thy graces which would never have been discover if it were not for the trials. Dost thou not know that thy faith never looks so grand in summer weather as it does in winter? Love is too oft like a glowworm, showing but little light except it be in the midst of surrounding darkness. hope itself is like a star─not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity. Afflictions are often the black folds in which God doth set the jewels of his children's graces, to make them shine the better. It was but a little while ago that, on thy knees, thou wast saying, "Lord, I fear I have no faith: let me know that I have faith." Was not this really, though perhaps unconsciously, praying for trials?─for how canst thou know that thou hast faith until thy faith is exercised? Depend upon it. God often sends us trials that our graces may be discovered, and that we may be certified of their existence. Besides, it is not merely discovery; real growth in grace is the result of sanctified trials. God trains His soldiers, not in tents of ease and luxury, but by turning them out and using them to forced marches and hard service. He makes them ford through streams, and swim through rivers and climb mountains, and walk many a weary mile with heavy knapsacks on their backs. Well, Christian, may not this account for the troubles through which you are passing? Is not this the reason why He is contending with you? ─C. H. Spurgeon. To be left unmolested by Satan is no evidence of blessing.

四月十日 信心的試驗 「他的僕人進前來對他說:我父啊,先知若吩咐你作一件大事,你豈不作麼?何況說你去沐浴,而得潔淨呢?」列王記下五章13節 在乃縵身上,我們得到一個顯著的舊約例證,說到神在對待人的事上,信心所佔的地位。這使我們奇妙地發現到底信心是甚麼。第一我們要想到:在乃縵這邊,他渴望得醫治的心是多麼的迫切。他為了得痊癒,願作任何事,甚至向敘利亞王和以色列王求情,也願意經過漫長的旅程。並在先知面前謙卑;但先知卻不打算出來見他。我們從這迫切得祝福的願望,可以看出什麼是剛強信心的根本。而在我們這些信主的人中,這種尋求神和要祂的祝福的人,真是太缺少了。 信心第二個標記,乃是必須放棄所有的成見,並且在神話語跟前俯伏。這是過於乃縵所願意作的,所以他就大大發怒的離去。幸好有他的一位聰明而忠心的僕人,給他提供上好的勸告。當我們想到,就這麼簡單的接受神的話,怎麼可能在我們的心中產生如此巨大的改變?這種思想會使我們的信心裹足不前。 信心第三個標記,乃是深信不疑的順從神的話:「你去沐浴而得潔淨。」在起初這一切似乎都是徒然的,但是信心在順服中得著了證實。這不僅作一次或兩次,乃是七次,作的時候確信偉大的奇蹟必要出現。信心只須接受那簡單的話:「你去沐浴就得潔淨。」請看!他完全更新了,像小孩子的肌膚一樣。「全身就潔淨了。」神大能的作為就如此成就了。 當神的話帶我們來看這個應許時:「我必用清水灑在你們身上,你們就潔淨了,我要潔淨你們,使你們脫離一切的污穢。」攔阻我們的不是別的,乃是不信。我們要相信:用整個意志來簡單且堅定地降服於神的應許,的確會使我們的心得潔淨,這是我們所需要的。「有一道河,這河的分汊,使神的城歡喜。」它是從神和羔羊的寶座流出來的,且流經許多寶貴應許的運河,並且每一步都可聽見有話說:「你去洗就得潔淨。」基督「用水藉著道把教會洗淨。」每一個應許都有一個呼召:「你去洗就得淨,你去洗就得潔淨。」基督要接著說:「你們因我講給你們的道,已經乾淨了。」——每一處都乾淨了。

四月十日 對於罪的道德上的決斷 「因為知道我們的舊人,和祂同釘十字架;使罪身滅絕,叫我們不再作罪的奴僕。」羅馬書六章6節 對於罪我曾有同釘十架這種決斷麼?──必要把罪從我們裡面剷除麼?要想對罪達到這種道德的決斷,那並不是短時間的事。但正當我決定像耶穌那樣為世界的罪而死的時候,罪必然在我裡面死掉;不是抑制,也不是屈敗,卻是釘死。這才是我生命裡緊要的關頭。沒有人能強人達到這種決斷。也許我們信得誠篤,也許信得有宗教的意味,但是我們必然要行的,是達到保羅在這裡所勉勵的決斷。 強制自己,找出時間來,單獨和神同在;立下道德的決斷,說:「主啊,叫我與您同死,直到我知道罪在我裡面是死的。」立下道德的決斷,將你裡面的罪處以死刑吧! 這並不是保羅一種神聖的預期,卻是一種最根本,最實在的經驗。我準備讓聖靈來尋索我,直到我知道罪的性格如何──是在我裡面攻擊神之靈的東西麼?如果如此,我是不是贊同神對於罪性的判決呢?那便是說,把它與耶穌一同釘死。不到我在神面前經過這種根本的決志,我不能把自己算為對於罪真是死的。 我有與耶穌同釘十字架的光榮麼?在我肉身裡所剩餘的一切,僅是基督的生命麼?「我已經與基督同釘十字架,現在活著的,不再是我,乃是基督在我裡面活著。」(加二20)

四月十日 「……我們若將可誇的盼望和膽量堅持到底,便是祂的家了。」希伯來書三章6節 當我們眼睜睜地看著一個靈命好、高尚的基督徒,受到那惡者陰險傷害的時候,這可說是最悲哀不過的了。因為那惡魔能使神兒女單純的信心變質,誘惑他們不僅自責,甚至自我定罪。當信徒讓那惡者坐在神的寶座上的當兒,那情景是很可怕的。因為撒但會令信徒審判自己的思想和行為,並且使信徒走在黑暗中,不斷自我定罪。那也是為什麼保羅會在他的書信中特別要我們拿著信德當盾牌。 撒但攻擊我們的終極目的,是要破壞我們的信心。牠知道,假使牠能使我們失去對神的單純依靠,牠就可以很快地使我們俯伏在牠的腳下。 撒但瞭解那些嘗過神甜美的愛的基督徒,若是失去了他們對神全然的信心,將足夠摧毀他們的理智和生命。因此讓我們將可誇的盼望和膽量,堅持到底。 不要怯步不前, 因為耶穌在寶座上, 掌握地上及陰間的權柄, 祂的王權直到永遠。
