1:1 烏斯地有一個人名叫約伯；那人完全正直，敬畏 神，遠離惡事。 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.
1:2 他生了七個兒子，三個女兒。 He had seven sons and three daughters, 1:3 他的家產有七千羊，三千駱駝，五百對牛，五百母驢，並有許多僕婢。這人在東方人中就為至大。 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. 1:4 他的兒子按著日子各在自己家裏設擺筵宴，就打發人去，請了他們的三個姊妹來，與他們一同吃喝。 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 1:5 筵宴的日子過了，約伯打發人去叫他們自潔。他清早起來，按著他們眾人的數目獻燔祭；因為他說：「恐怕我兒子犯了罪，心中棄掉 神。」約伯常常這樣行。 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, <<Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.>> This was Job's regular custom. 1:6 有一天， 神的眾子來侍立在耶和華面前，撒但也來在其中。 One day the angels 1:6 Hebrew ((the sons of God)) came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan 1:6 ((Satan)) means ((accuser.)) also came with them. 1:7 耶和華問撒但說：「你從哪裏來？」撒但回答說：「我從地上走來走去，往返而來。」 The LORD said to Satan, <<Where have you come from?>> Satan answered the LORD, <<From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.>> 1:8 耶和華問撒但說：「你曾用心察看我的僕人約伯沒有？地上再沒有人像他完全正直，敬畏 神，遠離惡事。」 Then the LORD said to Satan, <<Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.>> 1:9 撒但回答耶和華說：「約伯敬畏 神，豈是無故呢？ <<Does Job fear God for nothing?>> Satan replied. 1:10 他的妻子對他說：「你仍然持守你的純正嗎？你棄掉 神，死了吧！」 <<Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 1:11 你豈不是四面圈上籬笆圍護他和他的家，並他一切所有的嗎？他手所做的都蒙你賜福；他的家產也在地上增多。 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.>> 1:12 你且伸手毀他一切所有的；他必當面棄掉你。」 The LORD said to Satan, <<Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.>> Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. 1:13 耶和華對撒但說：「凡他所有的都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害於他。」於是撒但從耶和華面前退去。 One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 1:14 有一天，約伯的兒女正在他們長兄的家裏吃飯喝酒， a messenger came to Job and said, <<The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, 1:15 有報信的來見約伯，說：「牛正耕地，驢在旁邊吃草， and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:16 示巴人忽然闖來，把牲畜擄去，並用刀殺了僕人；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, <<The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:17 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「 神從天上降下火來，將群羊和僕人都燒滅了；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, <<The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:18 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「迦勒底人分作三隊忽然闖來，把駱駝擄去，並用刀殺了僕人；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, <<Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 1:19 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「你的兒女正在他們長兄的家裏吃飯喝酒， when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:20 不料，有狂風從曠野颳來，擊打房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他們就都死了；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 1:21 約伯便起來，撕裂外袍，剃了頭，伏在地上下拜， and said: <<Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. 1:21 Or ((will return there)) The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.>> 1:22 說：「我赤身出於母胎，也必赤身歸回；賞賜的是耶和華，收取的也是耶和華。耶和華的名是應當稱頌的。」 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. 一月廿四日 「但……鴿子找不著落腳之地，就回到…挪亞那裡……到了晚上，鴿子回到他那裡，嘴裡叨著一個…橄欖葉子。」創世記八章9節、11節 神知道甚麼時候該不給我們看得見的憑據，甚麼時候該給我們看得見的憑據。我們若能完全信靠祂，這是何等美好的一件事呢！當所有眼見的憑據都收回了的時候，是最美好的時候；因為神的美旨是要我們承認：祂的話語、祂的應許、祂的恩約，比我們眼見的一切憑據更實在、更可靠。神若給我們眼見的憑據，也好；也是可寶貴的。那些只信神的話而不用其他憑據的人們，常得到許多看得見的憑據。 ─特榮布爾 相信祂； 即使風雨欲來， 烏雲蓋天， 即使穹蒼如銅號， 卻默然無聲， 祂聽清楚你禱告中的每一言語， 甚之連麻雀輕輕落到之聲祂都聽聞。 讚美祂， 如果憂愁悲痛已到眼前， 即使連我們以為最親愛的事物遭受損失！ 可是損失即是獲得， 讚美祂， 從神那裏什麼都全備。 祂緊握我們的手， 縱使路途遙遠又可怖， 戰兢恐懼前一步亦看不清， 祂正在引導我， 只要我緊緊依附祂！ 當人世一切珍貴如浮雲消散， 荒涼寂寞， 走頭無路， 你該滿足， 因為信靠了祂， 絕對不會使你有任何。 暫緩不是拒絕；許多禱告上批著：「我的時候還沒有到。」神有規定的旨意，也有規定的時間。 ─選

January 24 "But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him....And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf." (Gen. 8:9-11.) ＧOD knows just when to withhold from us any visible sign of encouragement, and when to grant us such a sign. How good it is that we may trust Him anyway! When all visible evidences that He is remenbering us are withheld, that is best; He wants us to realize that His Word, His promise of remembrance, is more substantial and dependable than any evidence of our senses. When he sends the visible evidence, that is well also; we appreciate it all the more after we have trusted Him without it. Those who are readiest to trust God without other evidence than His word always receive the greatest number of visible evidences of His love. ─C. G. Trumbull. "Believing Him; if storm-clouds gather darkly 'round, And even if the heaven seem brass, without a sound? He hears each prayer and even notes the sparrow's fall. 一月廿四日 基督的十字架 「我已經與基督同釘十字架。」加拉太書二章20節 基督的十字架是祂最大的榮耀。因為祂自己卑微，以至於死在十字架上，所以神將祂升為至高。十字架就是征服撒但和罪惡的權能。 基督徒與基督一同有分於這十字架。這位釘十字架的基督，藉著聖靈住在基督徒裡面，而十字架的靈也給基督徒啟示。基督徒今天活著，乃是一個已經與基督同死的人。當他認識基督釘十字架的權能時，他向著世界和罪惡就是死的，而向著神乃是活著的，並且這個權能也就成了他生命中的實際。因為那位活在我們裡面的基督，就是一位釘十字架者。 當我們的主對祂的門徒說：「背起你的十字架來跟從我」的時候，他們明白這句話嗎？他們曾看見過人背著十字架，知道那是甚麼意思，就是指著在十字架上痛苦的死亡。基督是在祂的一生中背著祂的十字架，這十字架就是祂要為世人受死的死刑判決辭。因此每一個基督徒也必須背著他的十字架，知道他自己是只配死的，並且相信他已經與基督同釘死了，現在乃是那位釘死者活在他裡面。「我們的舊人和祂同釘十字架；」（羅六6）「凡屬基督耶穌的人，是已經把肉體連肉體的邪情私慾，同釘在十字架上了。」（加五24）當我們接受了這個十字架的生命時，我們就能和保羅一同來說：「我斷不以別的誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架。」（加六14） 這是一個很深的屬靈真理，請你一面默想、一面禱告，聖靈就必要教導你。但願基督在十字架上的性情、祂的謙卑、祂對所有屬世榮耀的捨棄，並祂捨己的靈，能得著你。祂死的權能要在你裡面作工，並且你要在祂的死裡變成祂的形狀，你也要認識祂和祂復活的大能。哦，親愛的啊！請你花時間讓基督藉著祂的靈，來啟示祂自己乃是釘十字架的那一位！

一月廿四日 忠於基督 「我特意向你顯現。」使徒行傳廿六章16節 保羅在大馬色路上所見的異象，不是曇花一現的衝動，對於他實是一種強烈的指導，因為他曾說「我沒有違背那從天上來的異象。」總而言之，我們的主向保羅所說的是「我要掌管你的整個生命；除了我以外，你不要有目標，不要有宗旨，也不要有意志。」「我知道我所揀選的。」 當我們重生之時，我們都有耶穌希望我們如何的異象，如果我們有一點兒屬靈；就不可違背那異象，更不可說，那是不能達到的。只知道神拯救了世界，知道聖靈能使耶穌在我裡面所作的發生效力，那是不夠的；必要與祂有個人關係的基礎。保羅並沒有接受甚麼宣傳教義的使命，而是被領到與耶穌基督發生活潑、對等、馴服的關係中。本章16節：「要派你作執事作見證，」雖是一種漫無限制的訓令，卻沒有脫離人格對等的關係。保羅所順從的是一個人格，並不是一種運動。他是絕對的屬了耶穌基督，不曾看見別的事；也不為別事活著。「因為我曾定了主意，在你們中間不知道別的，只知道耶穌基督，並祂釘十字架。」（林前二2）

一月廿四日 「你們白白地得來，也要白白地捨去。」馬太福音十章8節 當神為我們的靈魂或身體留下特別印記時，祂要我們與他人交通這些情況，並把這託付視為神聖的──「你們白白地得來，也要白白地捨去。」 在這末後、恩典的時代，神喜歡在世界各地的基督教會裡，顯現祂特別的祝福。但祂要祂的子民將這些奇蹟廣傳到世人當中。事實上，每一個與神有親密關係的我們，都是這些更高真理的託管人或見證人，我們應該盡己所能地影響每一個我們能影響的人。 神以聖者向我們顯現，因為祂要我們幫助世人知道祂能潔淨。祂之所以成為我們的大醫生，乃因有很多我們能幫助、祝福的病人和受痛苦的靈魂。 相同情況，如果主耶穌再來的盼望，對我們是極其珍貴，但我們卻隱藏這真理，並不為此作見證，只視此為個人的安慰，那麼我們真是比知恩不報更糟糕。
