1:1 烏斯地有一個人名叫約伯；那人完全正直，敬畏 神，遠離惡事。 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.
1:2 他生了七個兒子，三個女兒。 He had seven sons and three daughters, 1:3 他的家產有七千羊，三千駱駝，五百對牛，五百母驢，並有許多僕婢。這人在東方人中就為至大。 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. 1:4 他的兒子按著日子各在自己家裏設擺筵宴，就打發人去，請了他們的三個姊妹來，與他們一同吃喝。 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 1:5 筵宴的日子過了，約伯打發人去叫他們自潔。他清早起來，按著他們眾人的數目獻燔祭；因為他說：「恐怕我兒子犯了罪，心中棄掉 神。」約伯常常這樣行。 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, <<Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.>> This was Job's regular custom. 1:6 有一天， 神的眾子來侍立在耶和華面前，撒但也來在其中。 One day the angels 1:6 Hebrew ((the sons of God)) came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan 1:6 ((Satan)) means ((accuser.)) also came with them. 1:7 耶和華問撒但說：「你從哪裏來？」撒但回答說：「我從地上走來走去，往返而來。」 The LORD said to Satan, <<Where have you come from?>> Satan answered the LORD, <<From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.>> 1:8 耶和華問撒但說：「你曾用心察看我的僕人約伯沒有？地上再沒有人像他完全正直，敬畏 神，遠離惡事。」 Then the LORD said to Satan, <<Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.>> 1:9 撒但回答耶和華說：「約伯敬畏 神，豈是無故呢？ <<Does Job fear God for nothing?>> Satan replied. 1:10 他的妻子對他說：「你仍然持守你的純正嗎？你棄掉 神，死了吧！」 <<Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 1:11 你豈不是四面圈上籬笆圍護他和他的家，並他一切所有的嗎？他手所做的都蒙你賜福；他的家產也在地上增多。 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.>> 1:12 你且伸手毀他一切所有的；他必當面棄掉你。」 The LORD said to Satan, <<Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.>> Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. 1:13 耶和華對撒但說：「凡他所有的都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害於他。」於是撒但從耶和華面前退去。 One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 1:14 有一天，約伯的兒女正在他們長兄的家裏吃飯喝酒， a messenger came to Job and said, <<The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, 1:15 有報信的來見約伯，說：「牛正耕地，驢在旁邊吃草， and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:16 示巴人忽然闖來，把牲畜擄去，並用刀殺了僕人；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, <<The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:17 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「 神從天上降下火來，將群羊和僕人都燒滅了；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, <<The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:18 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「迦勒底人分作三隊忽然闖來，把駱駝擄去，並用刀殺了僕人；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, <<Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 1:19 他還說話的時候，又有人來說：「你的兒女正在他們長兄的家裏吃飯喝酒， when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!>> 1:20 不料，有狂風從曠野颳來，擊打房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他們就都死了；惟有我一人逃脫，來報信給你。」 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 1:21 約伯便起來，撕裂外袍，剃了頭，伏在地上下拜， and said: <<Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. 1:21 Or ((will return there)) The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.>> 1:22 說：「我赤身出於母胎，也必赤身歸回；賞賜的是耶和華，收取的也是耶和華。耶和華的名是應當稱頌的。」 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. 二月五日 「你們出來必不至急忙。」以賽亞書五二章12節 我不相信，我們已經瞭解在安靜中的奇妙的能力了。我們常太急躁——我們自己一定要去作——不給神一個機會彰顯祂的榮耀。因此，神常對我們說，「站住」（出十四13），「安坐」（路三18），「住了罷！靜了罷！」（可四39），祂纔可以發揮祂的全能。 在我們基督徒的生活中，我們的失敗常是因為我們要自己工作來得勝；其實，我們需要讓神在我們裏面工作。當你請一個攝影師替你照相的時候，你必須安靜不動，完全讓他作。 神對於我們有一個永久的目的，就是要我們像祂的兒子；如果要達成這個目的，我們必須處在被動的地位，關於如何主動，我們聽得太多了，也許我們更需要瞭解安靜的意義。 ─碎錦 「女兒啊！你只管安坐靜待」， 別以為等候的日子對你有害， 最愛你的祂， 為你安排前程， 祂不會忘記你今日的迫切需要， 假若祂在等候， 祂的等待， 是為了證實祂對你的深愛。 「女兒啊！你只管安坐靜待」， 你渴望知道主的旨意！ 由於祂的緩慢 切莫讓焦躁侵蝕心懷， 你當一心堅信等待， 祂對你的愛，至善至美。 「女兒啊！你只管安坐靜待」， 一步亦不動， 直等到祂的路為你暢開， 那時你將多麼舒泰， 你的腳步將如何輕快， 你的靈魂將多麼堅強， 等候的日子並不長得不可忍耐。 「女兒啊！你只管安坐靜待」， 你還能為祂作什麼更大的奉獻？ 是的， 這是很難， 但好的東西， 代價亦貴， 為了吝嗇破費， 招來多少損害。 是的， 這很難， 但祂的恩典俱在， 你的等待， 換來了福如東海。 ─史密斯

February 5 "Ye shall not go out with haste." (Isa. 52:12.) Ｉ DO not believe that we have begun to understand the marvelous power there is in stillness. we are in such a hurry─we must be doing─so that we are in danger of not giving God a chance to work. You may depend upon it, God never says to us, "Stand still," or "Sit still," or "Be still," unless He is going to do something. This is our trouble in regard to our Christian life; we want to do something to be Christians when we need to let Him work in us. Do you know how still you have to be when your likeness is being taken? Now God has one eternal purpose concerning us, and that is that we should be like His Son; and in order that this may be so, we must be passive. We hear so much about activity, may be we need to know what it is to be quiet. ─Crumbs. Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still! Nor deem these days─these waiting days─as ill! The One who loves thee best, who plans thy way, Hath not forfgotten thy great need today! And, if He waits, 'tis sure He waits to prove To thee, His tender child, His heart's deep love. Sit still, my daughter! Just sit calmly still! Thou longest much to know thy dear Lord's will! While anxious thoughts would almost steal their way Corrodingly within, because of His delay─ Persuade thyself in simple faith to rest That He, who knows and loves, will do the best. 二月五日 靜默的敬拜 「我的心默默無聲，專等候神。」「我的心哪，你當默默無聲，專等候神，因為我的盼望是從祂而來。」詩篇六十二篇1、5節 當人在他的微小裡，與神在祂的榮耀裡相逢的時候，我們都知道神所說的話其價值是遠超過人所說的。但是在我們的禱告裡，卻時常發表許多自己的思想，只是關乎我們的需要，應當好好學習安靜默然的在神面前，這才是真實敬拜的秘訣。讓我們記得這一個應許：「你們得力在乎平靜安穩（信靠）」「我的心哪，你當專心等候神，因為我的盼望是從祂而來。」「我要等候主，我的心等候，我的盼望也在乎祂的話語。」 當人的心俯伏在祂的面前，想念祂的偉大、祂的聖潔、祂的能力和祂的愛，並將祂的名所該得的榮耀、尊貴和敬拜，歸給祂的時候，人的心就敞開來接受神的親密，和祂能力的工作。 哦！基督徒啊，相信這樣的敬拜神——在你的無有裡俯伏下拜，並提起你的思想來領會神的同在，好像在基督耶穌裡，將自己賜給你，才是惟一的路，將神所當得的榮耀歸給祂，並且能帶到那禱告最高的祝福裡。 不要想這是虛擲光陰，如果在起頭的時候覺得困難，沒有果效，不要放棄它。相信它能帶你到與神正當的關係裡。它為你開一條與父神交通的道路。它也帶進一個蒙福的保證，就是神用慈愛看顧你，又用秘密而聖潔的能力工作在你裡面。當你這樣成為習慣的時候，你就要覺得祂的同在是整天不離開你。這一個能使你剛強的為主作見證。有人說：「除了神在人裡面之外，沒有一個人能影響別人叫他良善與聖潔。」人會覺得你是與神同在的。「惟耶和華在祂的聖殿中，全地的人，都當在祂面前肅敬靜默」（哈二20） 「凡有血氣的，都當在耶和華面前，靜默無聲，因為祂興起，從聖所出來了。」（亞二13）

二月五日 你準備獻上麼？ 「我以你們的信心為供獻的祭物，我若被澆奠在其上，也是喜樂，並且與你們眾人一同喜樂。」腓立比書二章17節 你願意獻上自己，替信的人工作──傾出你生命的血，作為一種奠祭，加到別人信心的祭品上麼？或說：我此刻還不要把自己獻上，我也不要神替我揀選工作，我要揀選我自己犧牲的環境，我希望有人注視著，誇我「做得好！」 抱著光榮的英勇，獨斷獨行，是一件事。如果神命定你作蹋腳的毯子，擺在門口，任人踐踏，那又是一件事。或許神要教訓你說：「我知道怎樣的自卑」──你準備像那樣獻上麼？你準備像一滴之水，在水桶中麼？──你願意無聲無臭的消滅在人類的記念中麼？你願意耗費自己，同時也願被別人耗費麼？不求受人的服事，卻求服事人麼？有的「聖者」不肯從事僕役的工作，是因為僕役的工作有損他們的尊嚴。

二月五日 「在主裡休息」詩篇卅八篇 當神創造萬物時，祂以工作開始一個星期，以休息作為結束。然而耶穌在主日復活之後，一個星期的第一天卻以休息為開始，之後才工作。 因此我們必須像神一樣先停止工作，進入祂裡面休息。然後帶著安靜的心，我們才會滿有能力地作祂的事工。 我們為什麼得努力進入祂裡面休息呢？讓我們來瞧瞧開帆船的技術：當帆船乘風前進時，它能毫不費力、平靜地在水面上滑行。但是掌舵的人必須穩穩地握住船舵，使帆能順風、使船能平衡。假使掌舵的人稍微一鬆手，帆立刻會沒精打采地倒下來。不僅所有的帆會倒下來，而且海浪會無情地使帆船翻騰不已，使一切的寧靜、能力消失淨盡。換言之，有了穩妥的舵，才會有載風而行的帆。以賽亞書廿六章3節說：「堅心倚賴您的，您必保守他十分平安，因為他倚靠您。」意志堅定、心裡平靜乃在乎我們，然而保守我們的是主。所以讓我們努力進入祂裡面休息，由祂來掌舵。
