創世紀, 1章

^1:1 起初，神創造天地。 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
^1:2 地是空虛混沌，淵面黑暗；神的靈運行在水面上。 Now the earth was 1:2 Or possibly ((became)) formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
^1:3 神說：要有光，就有了光。 And God said, <<Let there be light,>> and there was light.
^1:4 神看光是好的，就把光暗分開了。 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
^1:5 神稱光為晝，稱暗為夜。有晚上，有早晨，這是頭一日。 God called the light <<day,>> and the darkness he called <<night.>> And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day.
^1:6 神說：諸水之間要有空氣，將水分為上下。 And God said, <<Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.>>
^1:7 神就造出空氣，將空氣以下的水、空氣以上的水分開了。事就這樣成了。 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.
^1:8 神稱空氣為天。有晚上，有早晨，是第二日。 God called the expanse <<sky.>> And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day.
^1:9 神說：天下的水要聚在一處，使旱地露出來。事就這樣成了。 And God said, <<Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.>> And it was so.
^1:10 神稱旱地為地，稱水的聚處為海。神看著是好的。 God called the dry ground <<land,>> and the gathered waters he called <<seas.>> And God saw that it was good.
^1:11 神說：地要發生青草和結種子的菜蔬，並結果子的樹木，各從其類，果子都包著核。事就這樣成了。 Then God said, <<Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.>> And it was so.
^1:12 於是地發生了青草和結種子的菜蔬，各從其類；並結果子的樹木，各從其類；果子都包著核。神看著是好的。 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
^1:13 有晚上，有早晨，是第三日。 And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day.
^1:14 神說：天上要有光體，可以分晝夜，作記號，定節令、日子、年歲， And God said, <<Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,
^1:15 並要發光在天空，普照在地上。事就這樣成了。 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.>> And it was so.
^1:16 於是神造了兩個大光，大的管晝，小的管夜，又造眾星， God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
^1:17 就把這些光擺列在天空，普照在地上， God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
^1:18 管理晝夜，分別明暗。神看著是好的。 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
^1:19 有晚上，有早晨，是第四日。 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fourth day.
^1:20 神說：水要多多滋生有生命的物；要有雀鳥飛在地面以上，天空之中。 And God said, <<Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.>>
^1:21 神就造出大魚和水中所滋生各樣有生命的動物，各從其類；又造出各樣飛鳥，各從其類。神看著是好的。 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
^1:22 神就賜福給這一切，說：滋生繁多，充滿海中的水；雀鳥也要多生在地上。 God blessed them and said, <<Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.>>
^1:23 有晚上，有早晨，是第五日。 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fifth day.
^1:24 神說：地要生出活物來，各從其類；牲畜、昆蟲、野獸，各從其類。事就這樣成了。 And God said, <<Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.>> And it was so.
^1:25 於是神造出野獸，各從其類；牲畜，各從其類；地上一切昆蟲，各從其類。神看著是好的。 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
^1:26 神說：我們要照著我們的形像、按著我們的樣式造人，使他們管理海裏的魚、空中的鳥、地上的牲畜，和全地，地上所爬的一切昆蟲。 Then God said, <<Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, 1:26 Hebrew; Syriac ((all the wild animals)) and over all the creatures that move along the ground.>>
^1:27 神就照著自己的形像造人，乃是照著他的形像造男造女。 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
^1:28 神就賜福給他們，又對他們說：要生養眾多，遍滿地面，治理這地，也要管理海裏的魚、空中的鳥，和地上各樣動的活物。 God blessed them and said to them, <<Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.>>
^1:29 神說：看那，我將遍地上一切結種子的菜蔬和一切樹上所結有核的果子全賜給你們作食物。 Then God said, <<I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
^1:30 至於地上的走獸和空中的飛鳥，並各樣爬在地上有生命的物，我將青草賜給他們作食物。事就這樣成了。 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food.>> And it was so.
^1:31 神看著一切所造的都甚好。有晚上，有早晨，是第六日。 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.

八月廿八日「耶和華……在那裏試驗他們。」出埃及記十五章25節有一天，我到一家大規模的鋼廠試驗室去參觀。在我四圍都是一間一間分開的小房間。鋼受試驗到一個限度，就用數碼標著優劣的等級。有的一絞就斷，有的可以拉得很長，有的可以壓得很緊；它們的扭力，緊張力，和壓力的大小，都有數碼標明在上面。廠主知道這一塊鋼受得住多少壓力。他知道一塊鋼如果用來造大船，造屋宇，或者造橋樑，能彀承擔多少重力。他知道，因為他的試驗室這樣告訴他。神的孩子也常如此試驗。神不要我們像玻璃或者瓷器的花瓶一樣脆弱。祂要我們像堅韌的鋼一般，無論怎樣受絞受壓，都不會破碎。祂不要我們作花棚裏面的花草，祂要我們作能被風雨擊打的橡樹；祂不要我們作會被疾風吹散的沙丘，祂要我們作抵抗狂風的花崗岩。要將我們作得這樣，祂必須帶我們到祂受苦的試驗室去。我們中間有許多人都有自己的經驗可以證明：受苦實在是神信心的試驗室。　　　　　　　　　　─馬克康該對別人講說信心很容易的事，但是神常常將我們丟入坩堝裏去提煉我們，要把貴金與劣金分別出來。哦！如果顛簸我們生活的颶風，能使我們的主更加寶貴的話，我們的顛簸也是舒適的了。有基督同在的風雨，比無基督同在的平靜更好！　　　　　　　　　　─馬克特夫若不受苦，神不能設法叫你的生命成熟。

■ 英文荒漠甘泉（08月28日）

August 28 "There he proved them." (Exod. 15:25.) 　ＩSTOOD once in the test room of a great steel mill. All around me were little partitions and compartments. Steel had been tested to the limit, and marked with figures the showed its breaking point. Some pieces had been twisted until they broke, and the strength of torsion was marked on them. Some had been stretched to the breaking point and their tensile strength indicated. Some had been compressed to the crushing point, and also marked. The master of the steel mill knew just what these pieces of steel would stand under strain. He knew just what they would bear if placed in the great ship, building, or bridge. He knew this because his testing room revealed it. 　It is often so with God's children. God does not want us to be like vases of glass or porcelain. He would have us like these toughened pieces of steel, able to bear twisting and crushing to the uttermost without collapse. 　He wants us to be, not hothouse plants, but storm-beaten baks; not sand dunes driven with every gust of wind, but granite rocks withstanding the fiercest storms. To make us such He must needs bring us into His testing room of suffering. Many of us need no other argument than our own experiences to prove that suffering is indeed God's testing room of faith. 　　　　　　　　　　─J. H. McC. 　It is very easy for us to speak and theorize about faith, but God often casts us into crucibles to try our gold, and to separate it from the dross and alloy. Oh, happy are we if the hurricanes that ripple life's unquiet sea have the effect of making Jesus more precious. Better the storm with Christ than smooth waters without Him. 　　　　　　　　　　─Macduff. 　What if God could not manage to ripen your life without suffering?

■ 永活之泉（08月28日）

八月廿八日　在義上活「祂被掛在木頭上，親身擔當了我們的罪，使我們既然在罪上死，就得以在義上活。」彼得前書二章24節這裏彼得在書信上有著保羅相同的教訓，首先是十字架的贖罪：「祂被掛在木頭上，親身擔當我們的罪」；接著又提到十字架的交通：「使我既然在罪上死，就得以在義上活。」在後半部份給予我們一個極大的思想：我們若不能在罪上死，就不能在義上活，我們需要聖靈使我們真的在基督裏向罪死；因此，我們知道自己永遠有能力將肢體完全降服於神做義的器具，這些話語就是羅馬書六章有福教訓的總綱。親愛的基督徒！基督自己完全降服，付出代價來背十字架，「我現在心裏憂愁，我說什麼才好呢？父啊！救我脫離這時候，但我原是為這時候而來。」但願我們不認為與彼得此處所說的十字架交通，「我們既然在罪上死，就得以在義上活」是容易瞭解而體驗的事。這個意義就是聖靈以印證基督在其十字架來教導我們，也可說我如何真實地藉信心分享基督的死，現在也住在我裏面不停與祂——受苦的主——交通，這要付上自我犧牲，迫切的禱告，盡心順服神及其旨意並耶穌的十字架，住在基督裏不停地與祂交通的代價。賜福的主！天天指教我們，讓我們生命在您裏面：「我們在您裏面，您在我們裏面。」但願聖靈真正的向我們啟示我們在您裏面死，您死過，而現今在天得榮耀的生命，活在我們裏面，但願聖靈這些話語深深地在我們心中燒起來：向罪死，永遠從其權下得以自由，它不得再轄制我們，讓我們在您救贖的大能向您降服，預備照您的旨意由死裏活過來。

八月廿八日　禱告有何益處？「求主教導我們禱告。」路加福音十一章1節祈禱不是人自然生命中的一部份，人如果不禱告，他的生命將要蒙受損失；這話是不甚確當的。我覺得那蒙損失的，不是我們的生命，而是我們裡面神兒子的生命，那生命是禱告培養的，不是食物培養的。人若從上頭生，神兒子的生命就在他裡面，他不是餓壞那生命，就是培養那生命。我們通常對於禱告的見解，在新約裡是尋不著的。我們以禱告為取得東西的法門，而聖經裡禱告的觀念，是我們可以藉此認識神。「凡祈求的，就得著。」（路十一10）可是我們所求於神的不多，大多時候是在神面前嗚不平，是辯駁，是真情薄弱。一個像小孩的兒女無不放膽要求。我們的主說──「若不像小孩子，斷不能進去。」（路十八17）祈求神，神就必賜與的。給耶穌基督一個機會，給祂一點容身之處，人若不到山窮水盡，是不會出此的。人若到了山窮水盡，禱告並不算氣餒的事，那就是他能與神發生關係的唯一方法。在神面前不要做作吧，陳明你的問題，就是你智窮力竭所不能解決的事情。假使抱著自足的心，你不必向神求甚麼。與其說「禱告改變事物」，不如說禱告改變我，讓我去改變事物來得準確。禱告以救贖為根據，其目的乃在改變人對於事物的觀察。禱告不是改變事物外形的問題，卻是在人的性情裡作出奇妙的事來。

八月廿八日「神能照著運行在我們心裡的大力，充充足足地成就一切，超過我們所求所想的。」以弗所書三章20節當我們藉著聖靈與神合而為一之後，我們不僅能得到外表上的祝福，更能走進神所給我們的產業之中。在身體上，我們也能靠著祂的內在生命得到能力。那時約翰的禱告：「願你凡事興盛，身體健壯，正如你的靈魂興盛一樣。」(約參2)也就得到答覆了。總言之，當神的國和祂的義在我們裡面時，所有的祝福都會加添給我們。神外在的運行步調，總是與祂在我們裡面動工的步調配合得非常妥善。當神坐在一個人心的寶座上時，撒但和世人都會很快發現這點。我們不必宣傳我們的能力，因為耶穌的權力是隱藏不住的。再說，當一個人充滿神的能力，變得聖潔時，他自然會吸引飢渴和痛苦的人的注意。願我們接受神，將祂在我們裡面的榮耀彰顯出來。然後我們才能使用神給我們生命中的一切豐富祝福。主啊！願您賜給我們您隱藏的能力，使基督能在我們裡面得著榮耀。
