1:1 以色列的眾子，各帶家眷，和雅各一同來到埃及。他們的名字記在下面。 These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:
1:2 有呂便、西緬、利未、猶大、 Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; 1:3 以薩迦、西布倫、便雅憫、 Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; 1:4 但、拿弗他利、迦得、亞設。 Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher. 1:5 凡從雅各而生的，共有七十人。約瑟已經在埃及。 The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy(((\f 1:5 Masoretic Text (see also Gen. 46:27); Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint (see also Acts 7:14 and note at Gen. 46:27) ((seventy-five))\F) in all; Joseph was already in Egypt. 1:6 約瑟和他的弟兄，並那一代的人，都死了。 Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, 1:7 以色列人生養眾多，並且繁茂，極其強盛，滿了那地。 but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them. 1:8 有不認識約瑟的新王起來，治理埃及， Then a new king, who did not know about Joseph, came to power in Egypt. 1:9 對他的百姓說：「看哪，這以色列民比我們還多，又比我們強盛。 <<Look,>> he said to his people, <<the Israelites have become much too numerous for us. 1:10 來吧，我們不如用巧計待他們，恐怕他們多起來，日後若遇甚麼爭戰的事，就連合我們的仇敵攻擊我們，離開這地去了。」 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.>> 1:11 於是埃及人派督工的轄制他們，加重擔苦害他們。他們為法老建造兩座積貨城，就是比東和蘭塞。 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. 1:12 只是越發苦害他們，他們越發多起來，越發蔓延；埃及人就因以色列人愁煩。 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 1:13 埃及人嚴嚴地使以色列人做工， and worked them ruthlessly. 1:14 使他們因做苦工覺得命苦；無論是和泥，是做磚，是做田間各樣的工，在一切的工上都嚴嚴地待他們。 They made their lives bitter with hard labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their hard labor the Egyptians used them ruthlessly. 1:15 有希伯來的兩個收生婆，一名施弗拉，一名普阿；埃及王對她們說： The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 1:16 「你們為希伯來婦人收生，看她們臨盆的時候，若是男孩，就把他殺了；若是女孩，就留她存活。」 <<When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.>> 1:17 但是收生婆敬畏 神，不照埃及王的吩咐行，竟存留男孩的性命。 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. 1:18 埃及王召了收生婆來，說：「你們為甚麼做這事，存留男孩的性命呢？」 Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, <<Why have you done this? 三月十七日 「住在那裏，等我吩咐你。」馬太福音二章13節 親愛的主， 我願留在您安置我的地方； 我雖渴望離此遠颺， 我有意和大隊一起前進， 是的， 您知道我要做他們的領導人。 為了鮮明的旗幟而歡呼， 把腳步配合著軍樂的悠揚， 光榮地身先士卒， 馳騁疆場， 但我願留在您安置我的地方。 親愛的主， 我願留在您安置我的地方； 地的面積狹小， 而又是一片荒涼， 石礫既多， 土質更是澆薄， 似乎不會有生命在此滋長。 這是您的土地， 只要給我種子， 我將放膽去播種插秧， 我願耕耘， 等待雨水沛降， 一旦綠曲抽茁， 我將欣喜若狂！ 我願留在您安置我的地方。 親愛的主， 我願留在您安置我的地方； 我永遠敬虔忠誠來信靠您， 白日的辛勞和炎熱， 我都願一嘗， 夜間我可伏臥在您的腳旁。 當我把塵世的工作一一做完， 將可沐浴在永世的榮光， 來結束我一生的全部紀錄， 那時， 我必發覺留著比離開更為適當； 我願留在您安置我的地方。 哦，不安定的心哪！你跳得多麼厲害，撞在環境的鐵欄上，想衝出去到外面更寬大的場地去工作。靜下來罷，讓神替你安排你的日子罷！今天的忍耐和信靠，就是將來神差你出去作大事業的預備。 ─選

"I'll stay where You've put me; I will, dear Lord, Though I wanted so badly to go; I was eager to march with the`rank and lile,' Yes, I wanted to lead them, You know. I planned to keep step to the music loud, To cheer when the banner unfurled, To stand in the midst of the fight straight and proud, But I'll stay where You've put me. "I'll stay where You've put me; I'll work, dear Lord, Though the field be marrow and small, And the ground be fallow, and the stones lie thick, And there seems to be no life at all. The field is Thine own, only give me the seed, I'll sow it with never a fear; I'll till the dry soil while I wait for the rain, And rejoice when the green blades appear; I'll work where You've put me. "I'll stay where You've put me; I will, dear Lord; I'll bear the day's burden and heat, Always trusting Thee fully; when even has come I'll lay heavy sheaves at Thy feet. And then, when my earth work is ended and done, In the light of eternity's glow, Life's record all closed, I surely shall find It was better to stay than to go; I'll stay where You've put me." 三月十七日 為個別的靈魂代禱 「……你們……的將被收集，啊！以色列人哪……。」以賽亞書廿七章12節 我們身體裡面的每一肢體，都有它固定的位置；在社會上或在教會中也是如此。工作是整體的利益及完善的目標，但目標之達成，卻是藉著每一個肢體的配搭工作。 在教會中有一種普遍的想法，就是人們的得救乃是神僕人的事。由於他通常都是與群眾接觸，卻少有機會接觸到個人。這就造成雙重的虧損。信徒本身不明白他該對他四周的人作見證—─這可使他自己的屬靈生命活潑剛強，又可使人蒙恩。由於不信的人所接觸到的信徒沒有把基督個別的傳給他，他就受到說不出的虧損。我們極少發現有人想到該為著四周的人代禱。基督徒的生活需要恢復代禱應佔的地位——那對教會及其中一切事奉是多麼重要！ 哦！基督徒甚麼時候認清這個偉大的事實，神在天上渴望要作的需要地上的禱告，這是不可或缺的。只要認識這件事時，我們才看見代禱是使靈魂得救的主要因素。若沒有聖靈的能力顯出在禱告的事工上，一切努力都是徒然；只有當神的僕人與子民在禱告與見證上合一時，教會才會興旺，每個信徒才明白他們該作的是甚麼。 我們如何能激發起代禱的靈？答案是兩面的。一面要每一個基督徒當他一開始領悟到代禱的能力及需要時，就開始為著個別的靈魂從事實際的代禱事工。為著你的兒女、親人、朋友、及所有神在你四周所安排的人代禱。如果你感覺代禱缺乏能力時，謙卑俯伏在施恩座前，神要每一個蒙救贖的兒女為那些將滅亡的人代禱。禱告乃如正常基督徒生活的呼吸一般重要——證明那是從上面來的。 然後迫切不斷地禱告神將聖靈的能力賜給你，及所有你四周所有神的兒女們，使代禱之能顯在蒙神尊重的地位中。

三月十七日 工人之支配慾 「我們立了志向要得主的喜悅。」哥林多後書五章9節 「我們立了志向……」要把主的鴻圖放在前面，跟著不離，那是艱苦的工作。那便是說一年一年的勉強自己達到最高的理想。不是要感動甚麼人，建設甚麼教會，開甚麼奮興會，僅僅是企圖「得主的喜悅」。不是缺少靈性經驗而失敗，乃是缺乏努力保持正當的理想。至少要每禮拜一次把我們所行的拿到神面前，看我們的生活是否遵照神所期望的標準。保羅像一位音樂家，他所要求的是教他的人的讚賞，不問聽眾的讚賞。 任何企圖稍微偏離「求悅於神」的中心，其結果或是我們成為撇棄的人。習於辨別志向所達到的歸結，你就明白為甚麼要仰望耶穌基督而生活的緣故。保羅說：「我是攻克己身，叫身服我，恐怕我傳福音給別人，自己反被棄絕了。」（林前九27） 我要習於將各種事件去與主要的企圖發生關係，保持而不間斷。我對社會顯明的價值，就是以我私人的價值為標準。我主要的企圖是討祂的歡心，要得祂的喜悅呢？抑是次一等的好呢？

三月十七日 「祂記念祂的約，直到永遠……」詩篇一百零五篇8節 我們若是在律法中靠自己的能力掙扎，我們會一直在罪的控制下。但當我們走出西乃山的陰影，欣然地接受基督的恩典和祂白白賜予的全然救恩，一切的掙扎就會成為歷史。因祂曾應許作我們思想上和感情上的公義主，我們能藉著祂稱義，並且求祂保守我們，在遇到任何敵對的情況時，仍然能在祂完全的旨意和平安之中。 我們真的知道且相信這的確是福音的應許，以及新約的本質嗎？我們是否相信基督已保證將祂的律放在我們心中，使我們能按著祂的命令行事，並且遵守祂的旨意？我們確實瞭解神曾向亞伯拉罕所起的誓：叫他既從仇敵手中被救出來，就可以終身在神面前坦然無懼的用聖潔、公義事奉祂(路一74、75)。神也曾向我們起誓祂會像對待亞伯拉罕一樣待我們，祂會實現祂的應許，因為祂是信實的，讓我們完全依靠祂。
