Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 1:5 又因愛我們,就按著自己意旨所喜悅的,預定我們藉著耶穌基督得兒子的名分, he(\f3 1:5 Or|i sight in love. \V 5 |iHe|d) predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- 1:6 使他榮耀的恩典得著稱讚;這恩典是他在愛子裏所賜給我們的。 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 1:8 這恩典是 神用諸般智慧聰明,充充足足賞給我們的; that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he(\f4 1:9 Or|i us. With all wisdom and understanding, \V 9 |ihe|d) made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 1:10 要照所安排的,在日期滿足的時候,使天上、地上、一切所有的都在基督裏面同歸於一。 0 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In him we were also chosen, (\f5 1:11 Or|i were made heirs|d) having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 1:12 叫他的榮耀從我們這首先在基督裏有盼望的人可以得著稱讚。 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 1:14 這聖靈是我們得基業的憑據〔原文是質〕,直等到 神之民〔民:原文是產業〕被贖,使他的榮耀得著稱讚。 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 1:16 就為你們不住地感謝 神。 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit(\f6 1:17 Or|i a spirit|d) of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 1:19 並知道他向我們這信的人所顯的能力是何等浩大, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 1:20 就是照他在基督身上所運行的大能大力,使他從死裏復活,叫他在天上坐在自己的右邊, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 1:21 遠超過一切執政的、掌權的、有能的、主治的,和一切有名的;不但是今世的,連來世的也都超過了。 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 1:23 教會是他的身體,是那充滿萬有者所充滿的。 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

July 31 "He guided them by the skillfulness of his hands."(Psa. 78:72.) WHEN you are doubtful as to your course, submit your judgment absolutely to the Spirit of God, and ask Him to shut against you every door but the right one...Meanwhile keep on as you are, and consider the absence of indication to be the indication of God's will that you are on His track...As you go down the long corridor, you will find that He has preceded you, and locked many doors which you would fain have entered; but be sure that beyond these there is one which He has left unlocked. Open it and enter, and you will find yourself face to face with a bend of the river of opportunity, broader and deeper than anything you had dared to imagine in your sunniest dreams. Launch forth upon it; it conducts to the open sea. God guides us, often by circumstances. At one moment the way may seem utterly blocked; and then shortly afterward some trivial incident occurs, which might not seem much to others, but which to the keen eye of faith speaks volumes. Sometimes these things are repeated in various ways, in answer to prayer. They are not haphazard results of chance, but the opening up of circumstances in the direction in which we would walk. And they begin to multiply as we advance toward our goal, just as the lights do as we near a populous town, when darting through the land by night express. ─F. B. Meyer. If you go to Him to be guided, He will guide you; but He will not comfort your distrust or half-trust of Him by showing you the chart of all His purposed concerning you. He will show you only into a way where, if you go cheerfully and trustfully forward, He will show you on still farther. ─Horace Bushnell. As moves my fragile bark across the storm-swept sea. Great waves beat o'er her side, as north wind blows; Deep in the darkness hid lie threat'ning rocks and shoals; But all of these, and more, my Pilot knows. Sometimes when dark the night, and every light gone out, I wonder to what port my frail ship goes; Still though the night be long, and restless all my hours, My distant good, I'm sure, my Pilot knows. ─Thomas Curtis Clark.
