傳道書, 1章

^1:1 在耶路撒冷作王、大衛的兒子、傳道者的言語。 The words of the Teacher, 1:1 Or ((leader of the assembly)); also in verses 2 and 12 son of David, king in Jerusalem:
^1:2 傳道者說：虛空的虛空，虛空的虛空，凡事都是虛空。 <<Meaningless! Meaningless!>> says the Teacher. <<Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.>>
^1:3 人一切的勞碌，就是他在日光之下的勞碌，有甚麼益處呢？ What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
^1:4 一代過去，一代又來，地卻永遠長存。 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
^1:5 日頭出來，日頭落下，急歸所出之地。 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.
^1:6 風往南颳，又向北轉，不住地旋轉，而且返回轉行原道。 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.
^1:7 江河都往海裏流，海卻不滿；江河從何處流，仍歸還何處。 All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
^1:8 萬事令人厭煩〔或譯：萬物滿有困乏〕，人不能說盡。眼看，看不飽；耳聽，聽不足。 All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
^1:9 已有的事後必再有；已行的事後必再行。日光之下並無新事。 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
^1:10 豈有一件事人能指著說這是新的？哪知，在我們以前的世代早已有了。 0 Is there anything of which one can say, <<Look! This is something new>>? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.
^1:11 已過的世代，無人記念；將來的世代，後來的人也不記念。 There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.
^1:12 我傳道者在耶路撒冷作過以色列的王。 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
^1:13 我專心用智慧尋求、查究天下所做的一切事，乃知　神叫世人所經練的是極重的勞苦。 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men!
^1:14 我見日光之下所做的一切事，都是虛空，都是捕風。 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
^1:15 彎曲的，不能變直；缺少的，不能足數。 What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted.
^1:16 我心裏議論說：我得了大智慧，勝過我以前在耶路撒冷的眾人，而且我心中多經歷智慧和知識的事。 I thought to myself, <<Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.>>
^1:17 我又專心察明智慧、狂妄，和愚昧，乃知這也是捕風。 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.
^1:18 因為多有智慧，就多有愁煩；加增知識的，就加增憂傷。 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

■ 中文荒漠甘泉（07月22日）

七月廿二日「耶和華必然等候，要施恩給你們……凡等候祂的，都是有福的。」以賽亞書卅章18節我們不該單想到我們在等候神，也應該想到更奇異的─神在等候我們。我們若看見祂在等候我們，這會給我們新的鼓舞、新的激勵，來等候祂；這也會給我們極大的平安—─知道我們的等候不是徒然的。也許你要問：「既然祂在等候施恩，為甚麼我來等候祂的時候，祂仍不給我所尋找的幫助，而繼續等候著呢？」親愛的讀者，神是一位聰明的農夫，祂「忍耐等候地裡寶貴的出產。」（雅五7）如果出產尚未成熟，祂就不能收割。祂知道甚麼時候我們的靈可以接受祝福來榮耀祂。在祂愛的陽光下等候會叫我們漸漸成熟，在試煉的黑雲下等候也是如此。神在差遣祂兒子到世上來以前，自己曾等候了四千年，為的是要等候最適當的時期。親愛的讀者，祂替祂選民復仇的日子快到了，祂就要起來幫助我們了，祂決不會耽延太久，叫我們多等一刻的。　　　　　　　　　　─慕安得烈

■ 英文荒漠甘泉（07月22日）

July 22 "And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you...blessed are all they that wait for him." (Isa. 30:18.) 　ＷE must not only think of our waiting upon God, but also of what is more wonderful still, of God's waiting upon us. The vision of Him waiting on us, will give new impulse and inspiration to our waiting upon Him. It will give us unspeakable confidence the our waiting cannot be in vain. Let us seek even now, at this moment, in the spirit of waiting on God, to find out something of what it means. He has inconceivably glorious purposes concerning every one of His children. And you ask, "How is it, if He waits to be gracious, that even after I come and wait upon Him, He does not give the help I seek, but waits on longer and longer?" 　God is a wise husbandman, "who waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it." He cannot gather the fruit till it is ripe. He knows when we are spiritually ready to receive the blessing to our profit and His glory. Waiting in the sunshine of His love in what will ripen the soul for His blessing. Waiting under the cloud of trial, that breaks in showers of blessings, is as needful. Be assured that if God waits longer than you could wish, it is only to make the blessing doubly precious. God waited four thousand years, till the fullness of time, ere He sent His Son. Our times are in His hands; He will avenge His elect speedily; He will make haste for our help, and not delay one hour too long. 　　　　　　　　　　─Andrew Murray.

■ 永活之泉（07月22日）

七月廿二日　祂兒子的靈「你們既為兒子，神就差祂兒子的靈，進入你們的心，呼叫阿爸，父。」加拉太書四章6節哦！神的兒女！聖靈內住在你裏面，這靈在基督裏，是神聖潔的靈，在客西馬尼園裏主耶穌禱告說：「父阿！願您的旨意成就。」祂教導我們明白天父的慈愛，並以兒女的愛和順服回報之，兒女的靈在我們裏面，正如在基督裏面一樣；祂在禱告生活中把自己彰顯出來，並賜下神的慈愛和聖潔。當神兒子的靈在我裏面啟示基督的時候，我要依靠使我裏面基督的生命能長遠活著，主耶穌曾說過，祂要住在我裏面，我住在祂裏面，祂的靈在我裏面運行。因著聖靈和基督的內住，使我確實經驗基督的心思和祂的性情成形在我心中，並且彰顯出來，我要確信聖靈必完成此工作。此外，聖靈也配合我們的光景，幫助我們去事奉神，向我們啟示基督，使我們成聖。聖靈使我能超越世界並其引誘，成為基督的見證人，就像祂的小孩一樣。祂充滿我，使我能愛弟兄，甚至愛仇敵和不相識的人，以及周圍未得救的人，為他們代禱，準備幫助他們；祂也使我愛全世界的人，熱心傳福音的事工，使人人有機會聽到福音。親愛的弟兄！每天花點時間與主同在，讓你的心對於聖靈要完成的事工充滿信心。

七月廿二日　成聖「神的旨意就是要你們成為聖潔。」帖撒羅尼迦前書四章3節在成聖的問題上，神不但對付生，也要對付死。我們有許多人為要脫去死，花太多的時光。在成聖以前內心的衝突是免不了的，至少是與那不肯順服耶穌基督的情感決鬥。神的靈一旦指示我們成聖的意義，奮鬥就開始了，「人到我這裡來，若不愛我勝過愛自己的……和自己的性命，就不能作我的門徒。」（路十四26）神的靈，在成聖的過程中要剝削我，直剝到除了「一己」──以外，一無所有，那就是所謂對於一切死去了。我願除了「一己」而外，甚麼都不要──不要朋友，不要父親，不要兄弟，不要自私，對這一切的都死了麼？這就是成聖的條件，「我來不是叫地上太平，乃是叫地上動刀兵」（太十35）。耶穌說這話不算甚麼希奇。這就是衝突的開始，在這裡，有許多人失敗了。我們在這點上不肯與耶穌同死。我們說──「這是太嚴厲了，祂不該希望我們做這個。」不錯，我們的主是嚴厲的，祂希望我做這個。我願把自己減而又減，減到一個「光我」，不顧我的朋友如何想我，我的名譽如何如何，只無牽無掛地把「我」交付神麼？我一肯，祂就馬上使我完全成聖，而我的生活，除了與神的關係以外，一切都無掛礙了。當我祈禱的時候說：「主啊，求您指示我成聖的意義，」祂必定指示我。那就是我與耶穌合而為一。成聖並不是耶穌基督灌輸甚麼到我裡面，卻是祂自己在我裡面。

七月廿二日「或作執事，就當專一執事……」羅馬書十二章7節親愛的朋友，你正在事奉基督嗎？你是否以你的雙手、以你的身體，和你的恩賜事奉祂呢？你是否在你所擺設的筵席中得到最好的？當祂不能出席時，你是否餵養招待那些代表祂的窮人和謙卑的人？如果你不以實際行動表達出你的愛，那麼你的話語和諾言都是空頭支票。馬利亞尚且不敢只拿普通的香料來打發耶穌，她乃是把她最貴重的禮物抹在耶穌腳上。忙碌的人啊！你終日為孩子的衣食、為家中的裝飾勞力，你的手為主賺了些什麼呢？你為耶穌做了些什麼或是犧牲了些什麼呢？某個誠摯的婦人在保證要為主的工作奉獻一筆不少的款子時，有人問她：「妳付得起嗎？」她謙卑的說：「付不起，但是我願為主犧牲。」今天讓我們四處瞧瞧，看看我們在做什麼。然後把更多的愛獻給慈愛的救主，因為祂為我們甚至捨棄了生命。
