但以理書, 1章

1:1 猶大王約雅敬在位第三年,巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷,將城圍困。 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
1:2 主將猶大王約雅敬,並 神殿中器皿的幾分交付他手。他就把這器皿帶到示拿地,收入他神的廟裏,放在他神的庫中。 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia 1:2 Hebrew ((Shinar)) and put in the treasure house of his god.
1:3 王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿,從以色列人的宗室和貴冑中帶進幾個人來, Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility--
1:4 就是年少沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能侍立在王宮裏的,要教他們迦勒底的文字言語。 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. 1:4 Or ((Chaldeans))
1:5 王派定將自己所用的膳和所飲的酒,每日賜他們一分,養他們三年。滿了三年,好叫他們在王面前侍立。 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.
1:6 他們中間有猶大族的人:但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
1:7 太監長給他們起名:稱但以理為伯提沙撒,稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉,稱米沙利為米煞,稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
1:8 但以理卻立志不以王的膳和王所飲的酒玷污自己,所以求太監長容他不玷污自己。 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.
1:9  神使但以理在太監長眼前蒙恩惠,受憐憫。 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel,
1:10 太監長對但以理說:「我懼怕我主我王,他已經派定你們的飲食;倘若他見你們的面貌比你們同歲的少年人肌瘦,怎麼好呢?這樣,你們就使我的頭在王那裏難保。」 but the official told Daniel, <<I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your 1:10 The Hebrew for ((your)) and ((you)) in this verse is plural. food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.>>
1:11 但以理對太監長所派管理但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅的委辦說: Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,
1:12 「求你試試僕人們十天,給我們素菜吃,白水喝, <<Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.
1:13 然後看看我們的面貌和用王膳那少年人的面貌,就照你所看的待僕人吧!」 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.>>
1:14 委辦便允准他們這件事,試看他們十天。 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
1:15 過了十天,見他們的面貌比用王膳的一切少年人更加俊美肥胖。 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
1:16 於是委辦撤去派他們用的膳,飲的酒,給他們素菜吃。 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
1:17 這四個少年人, 神在各樣文字學問〔學問:原文是智慧〕上賜給他們聰明知識;但以理又明白各樣的異象和夢兆。 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
1:18 尼布甲尼撒王預定帶進少年人來的日期滿了,太監長就把他們帶到王面前。 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
1:19 王與他們談論,見少年人中無一人能比但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅,所以留他們在王面前侍立。 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.
1:20 王考問他們一切事,就見他們的智慧聰明比通國的術士和用法術的勝過十倍。 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
1:21 到塞魯士王元年,但以理還在。 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

六月廿六日 「即便有不信的,這有何妨呢?難道他們的不信,就廢掉神的信麼?」羅馬書三章3節 我可以說:我一生所有的憂慮,都是由不信產生的。如果我時常相信—─我以往的一切都已蒙神赦免;現在的一切都帶著主的能力;將來的一切多麼光明,因為永世的真實,不會因我的冷淡而變更,不會因我的失敗而消滅─—我怎能不歡喜快樂呢?           ─司買丹 當我們帶著不信的噁心來懷疑神的應許的時候,頂希奇的,我們就得不著那應許了。這並不是說我們的信心該受神的答應,也不是說神的答應是能用信心賺得的;卻是因為神曾這樣命定;得應許的條件就是信心。賜恩者自有主權選定任何條件來換取祂的恩賜。           ─赫德 不信說:「怎樣會這樣?怎樣會那樣?」信心只用一個字去答覆他的千萬個「怎樣」,這個字就是——神!           ─馬金都 從來沒有一個人,只花極少的時間禱告,卻獲得極大的成功的。 有人說世上如果興起一個全然相信的人來世界的歷史就會隨著改變。 讀者,你願不願意起來做這個人呢?           ─馬克亞當 沒有信心的禱告,會造成無目標的慣例,卑陋的虛偽。如果你的全人還沒有同心合意地參加你的祈禱,我勸你還是再等一會兒再祈禱罷!真實的祈禱一發聲,天地都會同說阿們。耶穌基督的祈禱,就是這樣。           ─P.C.M. 沒有一件東西不能藉著祈禱求得,除非那件東西在神的旨意以外。

June 26 "For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?"(Rom. 3:3.)  I THINK that I can trace every scrap of sorrow in my life to simple unbelief. How could I be anything but quite happy if I believed always that all the past is forgiven, and all the present furnished with power, and all the future bright with hope because of the same abiding facts which do not change with my mood, do not stumble because I totter and stagger at the promise through unbelief, but stand firm and clear with their peaks of pearl cleaving the air of Eternity, and the bases of their hills rooted unfathomably in the Rock of God. Mont Blanc does not become a phantom or a mist because a climber grows dizzy on its side.           ─James Smetham.  Is it any wonder that, when we stagger at any promise of God through unbelief, we do not receive it? Not that faith merits an answer, or in any way earns it, or works it out; but God has made believing a condition of receiving, and the Giver has a sovereign right to choose His own terms of gift.           ─Rev. Prayer with faith brings Omnipotence to back our petitions. Better not pray unless and until your whole being responds to the efficacy of your supplication. 六月廿六日 你愛我嗎? 「彼得因為耶穌第三次對他說『你愛我嗎』,就憂愁。」約翰福音廿一章17節 在主復活以後,因著彼得曾否認主,主要使他明白其愛心是何等薄弱。其實,對我們而言也是如此,主一再地問:「你愛我嗎?」直到我們從心中誠實回答說:「主啊!您知道我愛您。」並且承認我們明白在心中和生活上,並沒彰顯祂的愛。 思想什麼才是真實相愛的記號?一個長期忠於交誼和彼此相愛的人,必會使人們看到他和朋友的友誼關係;而我們若愛基督,則可由我們樂於擁有基督內在的性情。愛使我們會去取悅於對方,我們會儘量使所愛的人快樂;同樣,對主旨意的順服可以看出我們愛心的程度,「人若愛我,就必遵守我的道……你們若遵守我的命令,就常在我的愛裏。」愛本來就是儘可能使對方高興。 愛能使雙方完全地合而為一,這是靈裡的合一。當我們試著回答「你愛我嗎?」這個問題時,讓我們省察我們與主是否有相似的性情;假如在那方面有欠缺,我們必須到愛我們的主面前謙卑的承認,並且從施恩寶座前支取能力,全心去愛祂。 當我們讀到彼得的回答:「主啊!您知道我愛您。」主就賜他能力去餵養祂的羊和小羊。既然主耶穌愛我們,找到我們,祂的愛便會激勵我們去領人歸向祂、服事祂。

六月廿六日 永遠是現在 「我們……也勸你們,不可徒受祂的恩典。」哥林多後書六章1節 你昨日所蒙的恩,是昨日的,不是今日的。恩典是神滿溢的寵愛;也可以照你所預料的取得。「在許多忍耐,患難,窮乏,困苦中」──那就是測驗忍耐的所在。你在這些方面辜負了神的恩典呢?還是說──「啊,我不計算這次呢?」這不是祈禱請求神幫助的問題;是現在承受神恩典的事實。我們以禱告為作工的準備,這種態度在聖經上絕然找不出的。禱告是承受神恩典的練習。不要說──「我忍受這,直到我能脫離它,得到充足的時間禱告為止」。現在祈禱;在需要的那一頃刻,接受神的恩典吧!禱告是最實際的事,不是由崇拜反映出來的行動。我們在禱告上能得學習接近神的恩典。「鞭打,監禁,擾亂,勞動」──在這些事裡,能彰顯接近神的恩典,不但你自己驚奇,別人也驚奇。現在就接近,不是最近的將來接近。靈性字彙上只有「現在」這個字。讓環境領你到任何地方去,總得趁著時機依靠神的恩典。依靠神恩典的大證據,你遭不公道待遇或輕視的時候只表現神的恩典,不表現別的態度。 「一無所有……」,絕對不要保留甚麼。將你最好的捨去,永遠做個貧窮的人。切不要以手段與憂慮去保留神所賜給的恩惠,是要在貧窮(指謙虛)中獲得勝利。

六月廿六日 「祂看見許多的人,就憐憫他們……」馬太福音九章36節 我們的主「能體恤我們的軟弱。」(來四15)體恤這個詞含意很深,它表示我們的困難就是基督的,我們的軟弱也是祂的。這種感受並非是一種同情的傷感,乃是指祂正與我們一同經歷苦痛的憐憫。 正因主願意與我們一同經歷苦痛,因此祂能安慰疲乏睏倦的人。事實上,這也正是這位大祭司一切行為的動機,使神能藉著祂作為我們無盡安慰的來源。所以讓我們更加認識與我們合而為一的主,並且把一切重擔都交託給祂,因祂的心充滿了愛和憐憫。 如果我們能體會一個受極大痛苦的孩子,他的神經是如何地與疼痛的部份連接著,那麼我們或許能明白我們的傷痛是如何地與基督的心連在一起。就像母親能體恤嬰兒的痛苦,好朋友能憐憫他人的悲哀一樣;我們坐在寶座上的救主,雖然在天上有無比的喜樂,但仍然能在祂的靈裡,甚至肉體上經歷我們所受的痛苦。經上說:「我們既然有一位已經升入高天尊榮的大祭司……所以我們只管坦然無懼地來到施恩的寶座前……。」(來四14—16)因此,讓我們隨時來到這位已升入高天尊榮的大祭司面前。
