1:1 猶大王約雅敬在位第三年,巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷,將城圍困。 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
1:2 主將猶大王約雅敬,並 神殿中器皿的幾分交付他手。他就把這器皿帶到示拿地,收入他神的廟裏,放在他神的庫中。 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia 1:2 Hebrew ((Shinar)) and put in the treasure house of his god. 1:3 王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿,從以色列人的宗室和貴冑中帶進幾個人來, Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility-- 1:4 就是年少沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能侍立在王宮裏的,要教他們迦勒底的文字言語。 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. 1:4 Or ((Chaldeans)) 1:5 王派定將自己所用的膳和所飲的酒,每日賜他們一分,養他們三年。滿了三年,好叫他們在王面前侍立。 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service. 1:6 他們中間有猶大族的人:但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 1:7 太監長給他們起名:稱但以理為伯提沙撒,稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉,稱米沙利為米煞,稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego. 1:8 但以理卻立志不以王的膳和王所飲的酒玷污自己,所以求太監長容他不玷污自己。 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 1:9 神使但以理在太監長眼前蒙恩惠,受憐憫。 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, 1:10 太監長對但以理說:「我懼怕我主我王,他已經派定你們的飲食;倘若他見你們的面貌比你們同歲的少年人肌瘦,怎麼好呢?這樣,你們就使我的頭在王那裏難保。」 but the official told Daniel, <<I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your 1:10 The Hebrew for ((your)) and ((you)) in this verse is plural. food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.>> 1:11 但以理對太監長所派管理但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅的委辦說: Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 1:12 「求你試試僕人們十天,給我們素菜吃,白水喝, <<Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 1:13 然後看看我們的面貌和用王膳那少年人的面貌,就照你所看的待僕人吧!」 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.>> 1:14 委辦便允准他們這件事,試看他們十天。 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 1:15 過了十天,見他們的面貌比用王膳的一切少年人更加俊美肥胖。 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 1:16 於是委辦撤去派他們用的膳,飲的酒,給他們素菜吃。 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. 1:17 這四個少年人, 神在各樣文字學問〔學問:原文是智慧〕上賜給他們聰明知識;但以理又明白各樣的異象和夢兆。 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. 1:18 尼布甲尼撒王預定帶進少年人來的日期滿了,太監長就把他們帶到王面前。 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 1:19 王與他們談論,見少年人中無一人能比但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅,所以留他們在王面前侍立。 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service. 1:20 王考問他們一切事,就見他們的智慧聰明比通國的術士和用法術的勝過十倍。 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. 1:21 到塞魯士王元年,但以理還在。 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus. 三月九日 「從……頂……往下觀看。」雅歌四章8節 重壓使基督人飛騰。似乎是矛盾,其實是真理。大衛在苦難中喊叫說:「但願我有翅膀像鴿子,我就飛去,得享安息。」(詩五五6)他的禱告尚未完畢,他似乎已經承認他的心願已經達到,真生了翅膀。因為他不再覺得重擔,並且還能憑他的經驗勸人說:「你要把你的重擔卸給耶和華,祂必撫養你。」(22節) 「重擔」在聖經的邊註裏譯作「神所給你的東西」。信徒的重擔原是神給的;重擔帶領我們等候神、依賴神;甚麼時候我們能滿足神的用意,甚麼時候身上的重擔就化成翅膀,我們就能「如鷹展翅上騰。」(賽四十31) ─譯自主日學報 一日, 我在街上奔走, 事業的重負使我憂心忡忡, 種種煩慮有如陣雨之欲來, 胸中烏雲密佈。 於是自憐的心對自己說: 「可憐的人啊!你要做的事太多。 你實在太勞苦。 這沈重負擔不久會使你困苦。」 心中起了強烈的反應, 好如暴露在炎熱陽光下, 更如街車疾駛而過, 灰塵飛揚, 喧嘩雜鬧和刺耳的噪音, 緊張更添了刺激, 疲累而困惱的心, 已經達到了崩裂的邊疆。 「哦!是的, 它會壓碎我的生命; 我無法忍受無窮無盡的緊張, 不斷而來的憂慮, 對我真是重壓難當。」 我的心哪自安自慰說: 「安心於不幸吧!」 忽然聽到細微之聲清晰地說: 「這不是來壓碎你, 而是來支持你。」 我立刻發現落入重大錯誤中, 我的地位不在重負下, 卻在重負上! 神的美意不是讓我去背負, 而是神背負我。 神在安排祂旨意之前, 祂早已知道我的缺點, 亦看清了我的脆弱靈魂, 祂的子民需要恩典和能力, 一枝嫩芽需要陽光雨露來培養。 祂未作幫助之前把一切看清, 然後按照祂的旨意與周詳的慈念, 把它放在它應站的地位上, 這是生死兩可的關鍵。 在重負之下畏縮癱瘓下死亡, 有勇氣站起身來, 就得生命力量。 我們的負擔就是我們的翅膀; 藉此可以飛昇到天上恩慈座旁; 如果沒有信心的翅膀, 我們信心將永不成熟仰望。 「信心非經困難環境的鍛鍊, 決不成長」。 這是天國奧秘的真理。 我們以為有那壓碎我們生命的重負, 其實是背負我們飛向天上神的翅膀。 向上爬吧! 決不會被壓碎, 除非你沈滯在重負之下, 我們怎樣向上爬! 如何能凌駕在憂患與苦悶之上; 哦神,您的話顯示向上的階梯, 就是我們先隱退一時, 和基督單獨相處; 就是凌駕一切憂患重負的秘方, 因著主耶穌基督, 得到祂安息與慈祥。 ─白德菲

March 9 "Look from the top." (Song of Solomon 4:8.) CRUSHING weights give the Christian wings. It seems like a contradiction in terms, but it is a blessed truth. David out of some bitter experience cried: "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! Then would I fly away, and be at rest" (Psa. 55:6.) But before he finished this meditation he seems to have realized that his wish for wings was a realizable one. For he says, "Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee." The word "burden" is translated in the Bible margin, "what he (Jehovah) hath given thee." The saints' burdens are God-given; they lead him to "wait upon Jehovah," and when that is done, in the magic of trust, the "burden" is metamorphosed into a pair of wings, and the weighted one "mounts up with wings as eagles." ─Sunday School Times. One day when walking down the street, On business bent, while thinking hard About the "hundred cares" which seemed, Like thunder clouds about to break In torrents, Self-pity said to me: "You poor, poor thing, you have too much To do. Your life is far too hard. This heavy load will crush you soon." A swift response of sympathy Welled up within. The burning sun Seemed more intense. The dust and noise, Of puffing motors flying past With rasping blast of blowing horn, Incensed still more the whining nerves, The fabled last back-breaking straw, To weary, troubled, fretting mind. "Ah, yes, 'twill break and crush my life; I cannot bear this constant strain Of endless, aggravating cares; They are too great for such as I." So thus my heart condoled itself, "Enjoying misery," when lo! A 11still small voice" distinctly said, "'Twas sent to lift you─not to crush." I saw at once my great mistake. My place was not beneath the load But on the top! God meant it not, That I should carry it. He sent It here to carry me. Full well, He knew my incapacity Before the plan was made. He saw A child of His in need of grace And power to serve; a puny twig, Requiring sun and rain to grow; An undeveloped chrysalis; A weak soul lacking faith in God. He could not help but see all this And more. And then, with tender tought He placed it where it had to grow─ Or die. To lie and cringe beneath One's load means death, but life and power, Await all those who dare to rise above. Our burdens are our wings; on them, We soar to higher realms of grace; Without them we must roam for aye On planes of undeveloped faith, (For faith grows but by exercise, In circumstance impossible). Oh, paradox of Heaven. The load, We think will crush was sent to lift us Up to God! Then, soul of mine, Climb up! for naught can e'er be crushed Save what is underneath the weight. How may we climb! By what ascent Shall we surmount the carping cares Of life! Within His word is found The key which opes His secret stairs; Alone with Christ, secluded there, We mount our loads, and rest in Him. ─Miss Mary Butterfield.

三月九日 奉主名禱告是代禱的能力 「向來你們沒有奉我的名求甚麼。」「到那日你們要奉我的名祈求;如今你們求就必得著叫你們的喜樂可以滿足。」約翰福音十六章24、26節 當基督活在地上的時候,門徒們並不知道多少禱告的能力。在客西馬尼,彼得與其他門徒都全然失敗了。他們根本不明白奉主名祈求就必得著是怎麼回事。主應許他們等那日來到,他們奉祂的名禱告將得著何等能力,他們無論向父求甚麼都必得著。 「向來沒有。」「到那日你們要奉我的名祈求,……就必得著……。」這兩種光景至今仍在教會中顯出。今天絕大多數的基督徒缺乏認識禱告的靈,乃是我們與主耶穌及聖靈合一的靈,我們甚至不嘗試向主支取祂所應許的權利。甚麼時候神的兒女知道何謂住在基督裡,以及與祂生命的聯合,順服聖靈的教訓,他們就會知道代禱的功效何等大!並且神將賜聖靈的大能,來答應他們的禱告。 唯有當我們相信主名的能力,並我們有權使用主名的時候,我們才會得著力量,承擔神呼召我們做代禱者的聖職。我們的主耶穌在祂離世前的談話中將此禱告的無限應許給了門徒,祂就差遣他們出去讓他們知道「那位坐在寶座上也住在我心中的,已應許我無論奉祂的名求甚麼就必得著。祂要作我這事。」 哦!基督徒若能知道,我們若將自己全然絕對地交給耶穌基督並服事祂,我們的眼睛將會被開啟而看見,迫切不止的禱告乃是我們健全屬靈生活最重要的標記;且大有功效的代禱力量成了那些只住在主裡,且為主而活之人生活的一部份。 禱告: 可稱頌的救主,求賜下聖靈的恩賜,使我們得以住在您裡面,與您合一,為您而活,使我們能坦然仰望您,確知您已垂聽了我們的禱告。阿們。

三月九日 重蹈覆轍之時 「你們也要去麼?」約翰福音六章67節 這是一句刺探的問語。當主以最簡單的方法說話的時候,祂的話是最有力的。我們知道耶穌是誰,雖是如此,祂還得要問:「你們也要去麼?」我們對於祂要時時保持一種冒險的態度。 「從此,祂門徒中多有退去的,不再和祂同行。」(約六66)他們撇下耶穌而去,不是再去犯罪,卻是離開祂。今日有許多人為耶穌基督的工作耗財又耗力,卻不和祂同行。神希望我們不放鬆的一事,就是與耶穌基督合而為一。成聖以後,我們靈性生活的訓練,就是沿著這條路線。如果神使你知道祂所需要於你靈的是甚麼,就不要死死守著某種特殊方式的關係,而要過一種絕對倚靠耶穌基督的生活。切不要在非神的路線而與神同在,是要在神的路線而與神同在。這條路線是絕對忠於祂。我確知我是不知的──那才得到了與耶穌同行的祕訣。 彼得只感覺耶穌是他和世界的主,我們的主卻要我們作祂負軛的同工。第70節,耶穌補滿彼得的大缺點,我們不能補滿別人的缺點。

三月九日 「……知道該怎麼行,可以討神的喜悅……。」帖撒羅尼迦前書四章1節 許多基督徒的信心正仰賴在神所派給他們的崗位上,但是撒但卻不斷使他們覺得自己並不能討神的喜悅。假使他們能夠信實且充滿愛心地堅守神給他們的職務,不僅心中會更喜樂,在其生命中也會更有能力。神把我們放在不同的地方事奉祂,能有最高成就的秘訣,在於接納我們的職務是祂所任命的,並且相信我們在這崗位上的事奉能討祂的喜悅。雖然在最大的工廠或是最複雜的機器中,大的主動輪及活塞很重要,但最小的螺旋釘和包頭釘也有存在的價值。神的確也用「小零件」,祂給那些人簡單的職務,讓他們能固定在某個地方,而且相信神要他們在那小小的空間中,盡一切地為祂而活。 每個人都能做一些事, 雖然你我既不聰明又不強壯。 我們依舊能做個好幫手。 當某人朋友離散時,你可以支持他。 孤單寂寞的人需要你時, 你也可以做他們隨時的安慰。
