但以理書, 1章

1:1 猶大王約雅敬在位第三年,巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷,將城圍困。 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
1:2 主將猶大王約雅敬,並 神殿中器皿的幾分交付他手。他就把這器皿帶到示拿地,收入他神的廟裏,放在他神的庫中。 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia 1:2 Hebrew ((Shinar)) and put in the treasure house of his god.
1:3 王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿,從以色列人的宗室和貴冑中帶進幾個人來, Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility--
1:4 就是年少沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能侍立在王宮裏的,要教他們迦勒底的文字言語。 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. 1:4 Or ((Chaldeans))
1:5 王派定將自己所用的膳和所飲的酒,每日賜他們一分,養他們三年。滿了三年,好叫他們在王面前侍立。 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.
1:6 他們中間有猶大族的人:但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
1:7 太監長給他們起名:稱但以理為伯提沙撒,稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉,稱米沙利為米煞,稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
1:8 但以理卻立志不以王的膳和王所飲的酒玷污自己,所以求太監長容他不玷污自己。 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.
1:9  神使但以理在太監長眼前蒙恩惠,受憐憫。 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel,
1:10 太監長對但以理說:「我懼怕我主我王,他已經派定你們的飲食;倘若他見你們的面貌比你們同歲的少年人肌瘦,怎麼好呢?這樣,你們就使我的頭在王那裏難保。」 but the official told Daniel, <<I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your 1:10 The Hebrew for ((your)) and ((you)) in this verse is plural. food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.>>
1:11 但以理對太監長所派管理但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅的委辦說: Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,
1:12 「求你試試僕人們十天,給我們素菜吃,白水喝, <<Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.
1:13 然後看看我們的面貌和用王膳那少年人的面貌,就照你所看的待僕人吧!」 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.>>
1:14 委辦便允准他們這件事,試看他們十天。 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
1:15 過了十天,見他們的面貌比用王膳的一切少年人更加俊美肥胖。 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
1:16 於是委辦撤去派他們用的膳,飲的酒,給他們素菜吃。 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
1:17 這四個少年人, 神在各樣文字學問〔學問:原文是智慧〕上賜給他們聰明知識;但以理又明白各樣的異象和夢兆。 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
1:18 尼布甲尼撒王預定帶進少年人來的日期滿了,太監長就把他們帶到王面前。 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
1:19 王與他們談論,見少年人中無一人能比但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅,所以留他們在王面前侍立。 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.
1:20 王考問他們一切事,就見他們的智慧聰明比通國的術士和用法術的勝過十倍。 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
1:21 到塞魯士王元年,但以理還在。 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

七月九日 「你在苦難的爐中,我揀選你。」以賽亞書四八章10節 感謝神,神給了我們多大的安慰!這真像火焰中忽然來了一陣細雨,又像給我們穿上了一身耐火衣,使火勢不能將我們焚傷。苦難啊,你儘管來罷!神已經揀選了我。貧窮啊、疾病啊,你們儘管來襲擊我罷!神已經揀選了我。無論甚麼患難臨到我的時候,我就知道神已經揀選了我。 信徒啊,不要懼怕;主是常與你同在的。在你一切猛烈的試煉中,祂的同在是你的慰藉和平安。祂決不會離開祂為自己所揀選的。祂曾允許過:「不要懼怕,因為我與你同在。」(創廿六24)           ─司布真 苦難的烈火在我心中焚燒,  神鼓著風, 吹撥火焰, 我整個心靈, 痛苦得抖泣,  在融融的人舌中受著考驗;  在烈火的燃燒時保持信念。 祂把我燒得通紅的一心,  放在鐵砧上, 照祂的意願, 用大鐵鎚重重敲擊,  打成像祂那樣完美的圖案; 我輕說: 「照神的旨意」!  在最重的打擊下保持信念。 祂拿我燒軟的心, 再加敲煉,  每一鎚都有火星飛濺, 翻來覆去, 先要冷卻,  一會兒又燒得火光閃閃, 我輕聲說: 「照神的意思」!  在祂萬能的手中保持信念。 我決不悲歎埋怨,  那無補於苦痛的收斂, 神做完了祂的工作,  也許明天就結束考驗。 我虔誠地說: 「照神的意思」!  我自始至終保持信念。           ─施德 苦難的重負,並不是像掛在我們頸項上的墓碑,乃是像潛水採珠人那樣,必須加一些重量,才可以使我們的身體沉到更深的水底。           ─李察德

July 9 "I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction." (Isa. 48:10.)  DOES not the Word come like a soft shower, assuraging the fury of the the flame? Yes, is it not an asbestos armor, against which the heat has no power? Let the affliction come─God has chosen me. Poverty, thou mayest stride in at my door; but God is in the house already, and He has chosen me. Sickness, thou mayest intrude; but I have a balsam ready─God has chosen me. Whatever befall me in this vale of tears, I know that he has chosen me.  Fear not, Christian; Jesus is with thee. In all thy fiery trials, His presence is both thy comfort and safety. He will never leave one whom He has chosen for His own. "Fear not, for I am with thee," is His sure word of promise to His chosen ones in "the furnace of affliction."           ─C. H. Spurgeon. Pain's furnace heat within me quivers, God's breath upon the flame doth blow; And all my heart in anguish shivers And trembles at the fiery glow; And yet I whisper, "As God will!" And in the hottest fire hold still. He comes and lays my heart, all heated, On the hard anvil, minded so Into His own fair shape to beat it With His great hammer, blow on blow; And yet I whisper, "As God will!" And at His heaviest blows hold still. He takes my softened heart and beats it; The sparks fly off at every blow; He turns it o'er and o'er and heats it, And lets it cool, and makes it glow; And yet I whisper, "As God will!" And in His mighty hand hold still. Why should I murmur? for the sorrow Thus only longer-lived would be; The end may come, and will tomorrow, When god has done His work in me; So I say trusting, "As God will!" 七月九日 屬靈或屬肉體 「弟兄們!我從前對你們說話,不能把你們當作屬靈的,只得把你們當作屬肉體,在基督裏為嬰孩的。」哥林多後書三章1節 保羅在這裏把基督徒分成兩種,這是很重要的事實,人自然的生命都是屬肉體的;但是當基督徒一旦重生得救,接受聖靈,立刻就開始情慾和聖靈之間的爭鬥,一直到基督徒降服聖靈的引導,使聖靈的能力日漸興旺,成為屬靈的人。但情慾仍然存在,而在情慾裏一無良善,他必須把情慾釘死;然後,他就成為屬靈的人,正如經上所說:「屬靈的人看透萬事。」(林前二15) 另一種情形是基督徒不認識,或認識卻不順服聖靈,仍舊靠著情慾行事。故基督徒就顯得軟弱無力了,靈命亦不會長大,他仍是個嬰孩。他用自己的能力試著做得好一點,欲從聖靈入門,但仍靠情慾行事——一個屬肉體的人試著去成聖(加三3)。因著情慾的勝利,使他沒有力量去抵抗情慾,或者世界之靈的工作。 這是一個可恥的光景,教會大部份的成員仍然屬於肉體,他們註定服在情慾的勢力之下。行事總是憤怒、忌妒、不饒恕人,這類基督徒無法領悟屬靈的真理。若是他們的生命在基督裏,天天與祂有交通,但神對祂兒女的應許,都是他們難以瞭解的。 我們要堅定地向神禱告,啟示我們屬靈和屬肉體的意義,並且使我們完全能讓聖靈來引導。

七月九日 偉大的探察 「你們不能事奉耶和華。」約書亞記廿四章19節 你們除了倚靠神以外還有一點點倚靠別的事麼?尚有一點倚靠德行或某種環境麼?你對於神所擺在你面前的這種新問題,在某點上是倚靠你自己麼?這就是所謂探察的意思。你說──我不能過一種聖潔生活,」實在是對;但是你能決定讓耶穌基督來潔淨你。「你不能事奉耶和華神──但是你能將自己放在全能神所能改造你的地方。因為你對於神的關係正確,所以你期望祂在你裡面彰顯祂的生命麼? 「不然,我們定要服事耶和華。」(賽廿四20)這不是衝動,卻是自願的順服。你們說──但是神不會召「我」做這,「我」太不行,不能是指著「我」說的。這「是」指著你說的,你愈微弱,祂愈認為合適。自覺有所倚賴的人,是最難說:──「我定要事奉耶和華」。 我們說──「如果我真能相信!」應該說──如果我真肯相信。難怪耶穌基督這麼著重不信的罪。「耶穌因為他們不信,就在那裡不多行異能了。」(太十三58)如果我們真相信神說甚麼就是甚麼的話,那是多麼好啊!我們肯讓神照祂所應許的,在我們身上成功麼?

七月九日 「你要把你的重擔卸給耶和華……」詩篇五十五篇22節 有時當我們把重擔帶到神面前時,我們的呻吟大到彷彿神也會被這些重擔壓倒。然而實際上,再重的擔子也不會累著神。有些負擔對我們而言是重不堪言,但在祂卻一點都不重。基督耶穌用一個肩頭(不是兩個),就能把整個政權擔起來。祂既不掙扎、更不會叫苦連天。祂全能的膀臂能擔起我們所有的重擔。 在基督裡有能力使我們成為聖潔。主不僅能洗淨、醫治我們,祂甚至凡事都能行,我們必須對神有信心。您想如果今天您到一個河邊來,這條河會帶你,如同勢力龐大的尼加拉瓜大瀑布帶著一條小舟急速地跌落到懸崖邊嗎?不會,當然不會。要相信神所給我們的是滿滿的愛,和永恆的祝福。 當我的希望逐漸消失時, 我總是得到一些奇妙的信息。 即使在黑暗中,我也能聽到這信息, 彷彿是一首來自遠方的甜美詩歌: 沒有任何事能難倒耶穌, 沒有任何人能像祂那樣地工作。
