1:1 猶大王約雅敬在位第三年,巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來到耶路撒冷,將城圍困。 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
1:2 主將猶大王約雅敬,並 神殿中器皿的幾分交付他手。他就把這器皿帶到示拿地,收入他神的廟裏,放在他神的庫中。 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia 1:2 Hebrew ((Shinar)) and put in the treasure house of his god. 1:3 王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿,從以色列人的宗室和貴冑中帶進幾個人來, Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility-- 1:4 就是年少沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能侍立在王宮裏的,要教他們迦勒底的文字言語。 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. 1:4 Or ((Chaldeans)) 1:5 王派定將自己所用的膳和所飲的酒,每日賜他們一分,養他們三年。滿了三年,好叫他們在王面前侍立。 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service. 1:6 他們中間有猶大族的人:但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅。 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 1:7 太監長給他們起名:稱但以理為伯提沙撒,稱哈拿尼雅為沙得拉,稱米沙利為米煞,稱亞撒利雅為亞伯尼歌。 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego. 1:8 但以理卻立志不以王的膳和王所飲的酒玷污自己,所以求太監長容他不玷污自己。 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 1:9 神使但以理在太監長眼前蒙恩惠,受憐憫。 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, 1:10 太監長對但以理說:「我懼怕我主我王,他已經派定你們的飲食;倘若他見你們的面貌比你們同歲的少年人肌瘦,怎麼好呢?這樣,你們就使我的頭在王那裏難保。」 but the official told Daniel, <<I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your 1:10 The Hebrew for ((your)) and ((you)) in this verse is plural. food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.>> 1:11 但以理對太監長所派管理但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亞撒利雅的委辦說: Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 1:12 「求你試試僕人們十天,給我們素菜吃,白水喝, <<Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 1:13 然後看看我們的面貌和用王膳那少年人的面貌,就照你所看的待僕人吧!」 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.>> 1:14 委辦便允准他們這件事,試看他們十天。 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 1:15 過了十天,見他們的面貌比用王膳的一切少年人更加俊美肥胖。 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 1:16 於是委辦撤去派他們用的膳,飲的酒,給他們素菜吃。 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. 1:17 這四個少年人, 神在各樣文字學問〔學問:原文是智慧〕上賜給他們聰明知識;但以理又明白各樣的異象和夢兆。 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. 四月廿四日 「信……是未見之事的確據。」希伯來書十一章1節 真信心把信件投在郵箱裏以後,就讓它去了。不信把信件放在郵箱口,執住一角,不肯脫手;同時又詫異回信還沒有來。在我的書桌裏就有好幾封寫了好久的信,到今天還沒有發出去,因為我不確知地址有否錯誤。它們對於我和我的親友還沒有發生甚麼關係。它們也永遠不會發生甚麼,除非我把它們投在郵箱裏,完全信託郵局。 真信心就是這樣它把事情交給神以後就讓它去了。神就成全。詩篇卅七篇5節說得頂好:「當將你的事交託耶和華,並倚靠祂,祂就必成全。」但是我們不交託神就不成全。信就是接受,或更準確一點,領取,神所預備的禮物。讓我們前來相信、交託、接受,在我們以順從的態度,開始接受以前,我們是不會完全認識我們所得的祝福。 ─譯自屬天的日子 貝遜博士在他年輕的時候,遇到一位老婦人,她焦心憂慮她的兒子。貝遜寫信給這位老婦人說:「你過於為你的兒子擔心了。你已經為他祈禱,把他交付給神,還不應當安心嗎」?神命令我們不要為任何事情擔心,這是沒有限度的,所謂把一切憂慮卸給神,用意即在於此。如果我們已把肩上的重負交給了別人,我們豈非完全輕鬆了嗎?如果再從神那裏取了回來,顯然就沒有交給神。在我自己,常常把下面這個原則來測驗我的禱告;倘使把任何事情交給了神像哈拿一樣,我就可以輕鬆地離開,心中再無半點悲哀,苦痛或焦慮,這可以證明我們的祈禱是出於信心;如果再把負擔放在自己的肩頭,就證明我的信心不彀,沒有發生作用。

April 24 "Faith is……the evidence of things not seen."(Heb. 11:1.) TRUE faith drops its letter in the post office box, and lets it go. Distrust holds on to a corner of it, and wonders that the answer never comes. I have some letters in my desk that have been written for weeks, but there was some slight uncertainty about the address or the contents, so they are yet unmailed. They have not done either me or anybody else any good yet. They will never accomplish anything until I let them go out of my hands and trust them to the postman and the mail. This the way with true faith. It hands its case over to God, and then He works. That is a fine verse in the Thirty-seventh Psalm: "Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him, and He worketh" But He never worketh till we commit. Faith is a receiving or still better, a taking of God's proffered gifts. We may believe, and come, and commit, and rest; but we will not fully realize all our blessing until we begin to receive and come into the attitude of abiding and taking. ─Days of Heaven upon Earth. Dr. Payson, when a young man, wrote as follows, to an aged mother, burdened with intense anxiety on account of the condition of her son: "You give yourself too much trouble about him. After you have prayed for him, as you have done, and committed him to God, should you not cease to feet anxious respecting him? The command, `Be careful for nothing,' is unlimited; and so is the expression, `Casting all your care on him.' If we cast our burdens upon another, can they continue to press upon us? If we bring them away with us from the Throne of Grace, it is evident we do not leave them there. With respect to myself, I have made this one test of my prayers: if after committing anything to God, can, like Hannah, come away and have my mind no more sad, my heart no more pained or anxious, I look upon it as one proof that I have prayed in faith; but, if I bring away my burden, I conclude that faith was not in exercise."

四月廿四日 全然成聖 「願賜平安的神,親自使你們全然成聖,又願你們的靈,與魂,與身子,得蒙保守,在我主耶穌基督降臨的時候,完全無可指摘。那召你們的本是信實的,祂必成就這事。」帖撒羅尼迦前書五章23、24節 這是何等的一個應許!我們盼望能夠看到所有神的兒女都能抓住這個應許,並要求神來成就這應許。何等可嘆!「不信」叫人根本就不會有這種思想,而且只有少數人把這應許當做他們的寶貝和喜樂。 請聽,神就是平安的神——這個平安是祂藉著十字架的血所成就的,它也是超過所有悟性能領會的,在基督耶穌裏要保守我們的心思意念——除了祂自己以外,沒有別人能,並且願意完成這件事。這位平安的神親自應許要使我們成聖,要使我們完完全全的成聖,就是我們在基督裏的成聖、在聖靈裏的成聖;乃是神在做這樣的工作;乃是當我們與神自己有親密的、個人的交通時,我們才能成聖。 我們每一個人豈不應該因著這樣的盼望,而有極大的喜樂嗎?但是這個應許好像是太大了,所以祂就一再地重複並詳細說明。願你們的靈(我們全人的最深處,是為著與神交通而創造的)和你們的魂,(罪是藉著身體進入的,並在身體裏證實了牠致死的能力,但是身體在基督裏已經蒙了救贖;)得蒙保守,在我主耶穌基督降臨的時候,完全無可指摘。 這件事好像是太大了,不可能實現;為了避免這種可能發生錯誤的領會,保羅又加上下面的話:「那召你們的本是信實的,祂必成就這事。」是的,祂的意思乃是說:「我耶和華說過,也必成就,我要在基督裏,並藉著聖靈來成就。」祂所要求的,就是我們天天來到祂面前,並且活在與祂親密的交通中。太陽的熱怎樣照在人身上,並使人溫暖;照樣,祂聖潔的火也要在我們裏面燃燒,並使我們成聖。神的兒女啊,要謹防不信。它會差辱神。它奪走了你靈魂的產業。要以神的話作為你的保護:「那召你們的本是信實的,祂必成就這事。」但願每當你想到你那祟高神聖的呼召時,就發出這樣的回聲:「那召你們的本是信實的,祂必成就這事。」是的,祂必成就這事,祂要給我恩典,使我住在祂的身邊,使我能夠一直在祂完全平安的保護,以及惟獨祂才能賜給的聖潔遮蓋之下。哦,我的魂哪,祂必成就這事! 「在信的人凡事都能。」主啊,我信!但我信不足,求主幫助。

四月廿四日 驕矜之當戒 「然而不要因鬼服了你們就歡喜,要因你們的名記錄在天上歡喜。」路加福音十章20節 依基督工人而論,世俗不是我們的陷阱,罪不是我們的陷阱,靈性的驕矜倒是我們的陷阱。例如我們步趨時代的精神,著眼於靈性的成功。除了取悅於神以外,不要取悅於任何事情,「到營外就了他去,忍受他所忍受的凌辱。」耶穌告訴門徒,不要因服務之成功而歡喜,然而這好像是我們多數人所最歡喜的一件事。我們有商業化的見解──多少人得了救,多少人成了聖,感謝神,一切都好,都如意。神的恩典建立根基的地方,就是我們工作開始的地方。我們不是救人,卻是勸服人做耶穌基督的門徒。救贖和成聖是神特殊恩典的工作,我們的工作正如他門徒的工作,是勸化人做門徒,直到他們完全順從神。一個人完全順從神的價值,比他的靈所僅僅喚醒的百人,還多得多。我們要產生同我們自己靈性一樣的人,才算是為神工作的工作,也可以說是神見證我們是祂的工人。神用祂的恩典使我們達到一種標準,而我們要負責使別人達到那樣標準。 工作的人若不與耶穌一同藏在神裡面,是易於變成一個暴躁的專制者,不是藏在神裡面的門徒。我們之中,有許多人是專制者。我們對人專制,對集會專制,耶穌從不這樣對我們專制。我們的主每回和門徒討論的時候,祂老是用:「如果」的口氣,從不說:「你們必得……」這種態度使門徒得有取捨的餘地。

四月廿四日 「當止住怒氣,離棄忿怒,不要心懷不平,以致作惡」詩篇卅七篇8節 因為有人不聽神的吩咐,把手放在約櫃上,以致以色列民族失去了一個生命。這個人之所以會把手放在約櫃上,乃因好意要使拉約櫃的牛車能在崎嶇的路上走得平穩。但是因為這個人僭越了神的工作,所以神使他僵硬地死在地上。 生命中信心的表現很多時候是聽其自然。如果我們真得把一件事交託給神,我們應該能束手讓祂照顧。祂比我們能更妥善地處理一切,祂不需要我們插手幫助。詩篇卅七篇7節說:「你當默然倚靠耶和華,耐性等候他;不要因那道路通達的,和那惡謀成就的,心懷不平。」 也許所有的事似乎都不對頭,但是神比我們知道得更為清楚。如果我們真正而完全地讓祂以祂的方法在祂的時間動工,祂會在適當的時候興起。有些事不插手去攪和反而更見效,一則因為紛擾的胡搞只能壞事,再則神早已開始依祂最高的旨意來處理事情。
