^1:2 所羅門吩咐以色列眾人，就是千夫長、百夫長、審判官、首領與族長都來。 Then Solomon spoke to all Israel--to the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, to the judges and to all the leaders in Israel, the heads of families--
^1:3 所羅門和會眾都往基遍的邱壇去，因那裏有　神的會幕，就是耶和華僕人摩西在曠野所製造的。 and Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at Gibeon, for God's Tent of Meeting was there, which Moses the LORD's servant had made in the desert.
^1:4 只是　神的約櫃，大衛已經從基列‧耶琳搬到他所預備的地方，因他曾在耶路撒冷為約櫃支搭了帳幕， Now David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place he had prepared for it, because he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
^1:5 並且戶珥的孫子、烏利的兒子比撒列所造的銅壇也在基遍耶和華的會幕前。所羅門和會眾都就近壇前。 But the bronze altar that Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made was in Gibeon in front of the tabernacle of the LORD; so Solomon and the assembly inquired of him there.
^1:6 所羅門上到耶和華面前會幕的銅壇那裏，獻一千犧牲為燔祭。 Solomon went up to the bronze altar before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.
^1:7 當夜，　神向所羅門顯現，對他說：「你願我賜你甚麼，你可以求。」 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, <<Ask for whatever you want me to give you.>>
^1:8 所羅門對　神說：「你曾向我父大衛大施慈愛，使我接續他作王。 Solomon answered God, <<You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place.
^1:9 耶和華　神啊，現在求你成就向我父大衛所應許的話；因你立我作這民的王，他們如同地上塵沙那樣多。 Now, LORD God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth.
^1:10 求你賜我智慧聰明，我好在這民前出入；不然，誰能判斷這眾多的民呢？」 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?>>
^1:11 　神對所羅門說：「我已立你作我民的王。你既有這心意，並不求資財、豐富、尊榮，也不求滅絕那恨你之人的性命，又不求大壽數，只求智慧聰明好判斷我的民； God said to Solomon, <<Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king,
^1:12 我必賜你智慧聰明，也必賜你資財、豐富、尊榮。在你以前的列王都沒有這樣，在你以後也必沒有這樣的。」 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.>>
^1:13 於是，所羅門從基遍邱壇會幕前回到耶路撒冷，治理以色列人。 Then Solomon went to Jerusalem from the high place at Gibeon, from before the Tent of Meeting. And he reigned over Israel.
^1:14 所羅門聚集戰車馬兵，有戰車一千四百輛，馬兵一萬二千名，安置在屯車的城邑和耶路撒冷，就是王那裏。 Solomon accumulated chariots and horses; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses, 1:14 Or ((charioteers)) which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
^1:15 王在耶路撒冷使金銀多如石頭，香柏木多如高原的桑樹。 The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.
^1:16 所羅門的馬是從埃及帶來的，是王的商人一群一群按著定價買來的。 Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt 1:16 Or possibly ((Muzur,)) a region in Cilicia; also in verse 17 and from Kue-- 1:16 Probably Cilicia the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.
^1:17 他們從埃及買來的車，每輛價銀七百舍客勒，馬每匹一百五十舍客勒。赫人諸王和亞蘭諸王所買的車馬，也是按這價值經他們手買來的。 They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels 1:17 That is, about 15 pounds (about 7 kilograms) of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. 1:17 That is, about 3 3/4 pounds (about 1.7 kilograms) They also exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and of the Arameans.

■ 中文荒漠甘泉（10月13日）

十月十三日「應當一無罣慮，只要凡事藉著禱告、祈求、和感謝，將你們所要的告訴神。神所賜出人意外的平安，必在基督耶穌裡，保守你們的心懷意念。」腓立比書四章6節、7節一個信徒不該有絲毫罣慮。無論我們的試煉多大，痛苦多深，困難多雜，總不能叫我們有罣慮的理由，因為我們有一位父在天上，祂是全能的，祂愛我們，正如愛祂的獨生子一般，祂樂意隨時隨地救濟我們、幫助我們。所以讓我們聽祂對我們所說的話：「應當一無罣慮，只要凡事藉著禱告、祈求和感謝，將你們所要的告訴神。神所賜出人意外的平安，必在基督耶穌裡，保守你們的心懷意念。」「凡事」，不只是房屋著火，不只是所愛的病危，「凡事」包括日常生活中一切大大小小的事情；我們應當將「凡事」帶到神面前去！當我們夜半醒來，輾轉不能成眠的時候，就該頂自然地傾向神去，與祂談話，將我們種種瑣碎的事情帶到祂面前去——將一切家庭方面、職業方面的困難全告訴祂。「藉著禱告祈求」，站在乞丐的地位上，用誠懇和堅忍來等候祂。「和感謝」，我們應當隨時存感謝的心。如果我們以為沒有甚麼可叫我們感謝的話，至少有一件事是值得我們感謝的——祂救我們脫離死亡。祂給我們祂的道─—祂的兒子—─和聖靈。哦，這就彀叫我們大聲感謝讚美了。「神所賜出人意外的平安，必在基督耶穌裡，保守你們的心懷意念。」這是一個何等大、何等真、何等寶貴的祝福！但是這個祝福必須親身經歷過纔會知道，因為這是出人意外的。哦，讓我們把這些話放在心上。如果我們能一直照著行的話，結果定會叫神得到更大的榮耀。　　　　　　　　　　─慕勒我們應當時時察看自己有沒有甚麼叫我的心得不到安息？如果有的話，就當立刻到神前去對付，直到恢復了內心的鎮靜。　　　　　　　　　　─撒勒

■ 英文荒漠甘泉（10月13日）

October 13 "In nothing be anxious." (Phil. 4:6.) 　ＮO anxiety ought to be found in a believer. Great, many and varied may be our trials, our afflictions, our difficulties, and yet there should be no anxiety under any circumstances, because we have a Father in Heaven who is almighty, who loves His children as He loves His only-begotten Son, and whose very joy and delight it is to succor and help them at all times and under all circumstances. We should attend to the Word, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." 　"In everything," that is not merely when the house is on fire, not merely when the beloved wife and children are on the brink of the grave, but in the smallest matters of life, bring everyghing before God, the little things, the very little things, what the world calls trifling things- everything-living in holy communion with our Heavenly Father, and with our precious Lord Jesus all day long. And when we awake at night, by a kind of spiritual instinct again turning to Him, and speaking to Him, bringing our various little matters before Him in the sleepless night, the difficulties in connection with the family, our trade, our profession. Whatever tries us in any way, speak to the Lord about it. 　"By prayer and supplication," taking the place of beggars, with earnestness, with perseverance, going on and waiting, waiting, waiting on God. 　"With thanksgiving." We should at all times lay a good foundation with thanksgiving. If everything else were wanting, this is always present, that, He has saved us from hell. Then, that He has given us His Holy Word-His Son, His choicest gift-and the Holy spirit. Therefore we have abundant reason for thanksgiving. O let us aim at this! 　"And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." And this is so great a blessing, so real a blessing, so precious a blessing, that it must be known experimentally to be entered into, for it passeth understanding. ■ 永活之泉（10月13日）

十月十三日　永久的代禱「稱長久為人代禱的人是宗教狂熱者是何等毫無理由。至少在單單真實的從神獲得啟示的生命，是無法得到良善和喜樂，那就不可能同意此說，因為良善無法與神分離而單獨存在，除非藉祂自己所變成有福而聖潔的人，否則沒人能有此種生命；惟有直接從內住的神得到啟示，否則沒有高級受造之物，可從其他地方找到良善和喜樂。根據永遠的啟示：動物怎樣需要空氣，高級受造物也怎樣需要有良善、聖潔和喜樂的本性。」「認為啟示和引導止於先知和使徒的時代而不會臨到現在的基督徒，乃是何等錯誤的說法，因為他們雖不是先知或使徒，但亦稱為聖徒。像天父般的完全，有基督的心志，單單遵行神的旨意，彰顯祂的榮耀，棄絕屬世的靈，盡心、盡性、盡意愛神，並愛鄰居如同自己。」「注意這偉大、神聖和超自然的力量，如何在先知和使徒身上工作，你就會發現聖潔不限於某一場合和時間，而是永遠存在我們的思想、意志、渴望、情感之中，那麼我們可知這內在的聖潔和良善是永遠存在，當我們迫切需要時就會藉神的靈啟示我們；如我們的思想和情感永遠保持聖潔和良善，則聖善神的靈就會永遠住在我們裏面，作啟示的工作。」賜福的父神，我們求您用天上的啟示，就是有福的真理，我們有信心的祈求您的聖靈直接永遠引導我們，運行在我們身上。

十月十三日　個人的失望與各自的發展「摩西長大，出去到他弟兄那裡，看他們的重擔。」出埃及記二章11節摩西看見他百姓受壓迫，自覺是拯救他們的一位，受著義憤的催逼，便開始替他們伸冤，為正義，為神走了第一步以後，神就讓摩西陷於完全失望中，打發他到曠野牧羊四十年。時候到了，神向摩西顯現，吩咐他去領祂的百姓出來。而摩西說：「我是甚麼人，竟能去見法老呢？」開始，摩西以為他是拯救百姓的人，可惜的是他先未受到神的訓練。在個人方面他是對的，但他是不習於與神契合，而作此事的人。我們也許有神的異象，能瞭解神所要的是甚麼，也像摩西一樣開始工作起來；後來，同樣的在曠野四十年，好像神忽略了所有的事，但在我們完全失望的時候，神轉回頭來，恢復從前的選召，我們反戰慄著說：「啊，我是甚麼！」我們要學知神動腳的那一大步：「我是自有永有的打發你。」我們要曉得我們個人替神努力是不甚適當的；個人只能藉著神的關係白熱化起來（參太三11）。我們只注意事物的一方面，我們也得著了異象──「這是神一要我做的事，」但是沒有與神齊一步伐。如果你經過一種失望，就有一種大的發展在你面前等待你。

■ 中文上海嗎哪（10月13日）

十月十三日「原來體貼肉體的，就是與神為仇……」羅馬書八章7節我們的肉體可說是無可救藥的敗壞，它「……不服神的律法，也是不能服。」(羅八7)因為肉體永遠也無法變好，所以試著改進肉體是無用的。不管我們受多少教育，用什麼好的方法來制約我們的行為，有最好的模範做我們的例子與否，或是用哀痛、勇氣、嚴肅的態度來對付肉體，但是我們最後會發現：肉體的敗壞依然是積習難改。一個小孩子所養大的野禿鷹，雖然從雛鳥時就接受家鴿般的訓練，但是長大時仍然會以其尖利的嘴啄痛撫養牠長大的人，可見得教育並不能改變禿鷹的殘暴，而其自然的天性也永遠不會與鴿子一樣。無怪乎保羅會說：「原來體貼肉體的，就是與神為仇；因為不服神的律法，也是不能服。」惟一能補救人天性的辦法，乃是毀滅老我，接受屬天的性格。神的目的不在改進人，乃是要藉著基督釘死我們的肉體，然後在基督耶穌裡使我們成為新造的人。
